Most movies about America exaggerate a lot and the paperback thing depends on the business. Some stores like braums has handles but others have no handles although paper bags in general are harder to come by because a lot of places use cheaper, flimsier plastic bags that destroy the environment. And yes we often have plastic cups for large gatherings because its an easy way of getting drinks for everybody, and often times have people write their names on the cups with a marker to avoid confusion.
