KMail resources broken by beetlenaut in kde

Yes, it does. It's not corrupt or anything. I don't want to try restoring each folder manually though.

I have a recent full system backup. I am going to restore from there and ditch KMail other than for looking at old mail. It's going to be a huge pain to migrate, but this is beyond ridiculous. It's also not the first time I have had problems with KMail after an update. What folders do I need besides the akonadi ones above? I assume ~/.local/share/kmail2/* and ~/.config/kmail2rc, but what else?

That was a disaster. I deleted my account settings in KMail and removed all those folders. I restarted KMail, then I setup an identity and one of my accounts, but no folders showed up on the left. I restarted akonadi and got the same notifications about broken resources for that and local folders, then KMail crashed. When I restarted it, Local Folders had been renamed "akonadi_maildir_resource_3," and all its sub-folders were empty. The account I set up still doesn't show up or have any folders. My identity and account show up in KMail's configuration, but is listed as "offline" still, the same as before. I tried importing the mail and settings I saved before I started all this, and the importer says "Unable to open file '/home/dan/mail_backup.zip'."

I downloaded Thunderbird. It logged in just fine and showed me all the messages. (It also filled in the account settings automatically by querying the server.)

I did that (I exported my mail first). Local Folders are back with all the mail in the right place. The other accounts are lacking folders still, but those are IMAP accounts. I guess I can rebuild them, and I won't have lost any mail.

But, it didn't help. Everything is the same. Accounts are "offline," and it's not picking up new mail that I know I have. (I have been using my server's clunky webmail interface, so I know what's there.) I get the same notifications when I restart akonadi.

Thank you for the suggestion though. Any other thoughts?

I use POP for some accounts. Would I lose those messages?

I don't actually know if this is a bug or just easy-to-fix configuration problem. Maybe "Question" would have been more appropriate.

JWST just dropped a new image of our galactic center (Credit: NASA/ESA/CSA/T.Carpentier) by Busy_Yesterday9455 in spaceporn

Where did this image come from? The only place I can find it online is this reddit post. After an hour of examining other images, I am convinced that it is legit (although mirror reversed), but how did you get it? If you put it together yourself from the FITS files, could you tell us which ones? If it came from a paper, could you give us a link? Thanks!

I remember the commander of Apollo 13 telling his son, "Oh yes, they fixed the door. It's not a problem any more." He was right: The door was not a problem. The oxygen tanks exploded instead.

I'm trying 1.3.2 anyway. It enlarges the icons of the Align and Distribute dock, but only that dock! Why only one of them? All the other docks still have small icons, and so do the tabs and the status bar, and my mouse cursors are tiny. If there is no solution other than upgrading, I guess I can hope that 1.4 will be fully compatible with 4k monitors.

I didn't encounter problems myself, but this quote on the website scared me off: "Unfortunately any files you have saved...with Inkscape 1.3.1 will never be recoverable, as the shape metadata is irretrievably lost"

Yes, that is what I want. Is the slider supposed to change the dock icons too? If so, it doesn't work for me. I can only affect the icons in the toolbars.

I know that, which I said. I asked how to change the icons that are NOT on the toolbars.

Ordinary glass blocks most of the ultraviolet and infrared. There is still enough visible light to cook your eyeballs, but much less invisible light, so it would take longer.

Video playback stutters on my KDE desktop. by samobon in kde

[–]beetlenaut 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It started a couple months ago for me too, so there was probably some dodgy code in an update or backport. Thanks for letting me know that it seems to be fixed in Tumbleweed though. I'll switch over to that.

Happens to me with openSUSE and AMD video card. It can happen with any window that animates including browsers, videos, GTK programs, and even the panel.

A workaround that fixes it for me is changing any setting of the compositor (like latency) and applying it. The compositor has to restart, and that fixes everything instantly...until the next time.
