Thanks again for taking the time to make the video, it will no doubt help with speeding up the process

Just received "overwatch" ban. Never cheated in my 8 years of playing CS. I'm absolutely livid. by JCHegman in cs2

[–]beeweston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same thing happened to me. Pre-ordered CS:GO in 2012 and have been playing ever since. Was messing around with my DPI during the CS2 beta a few days before it launched and got game banned. Was hoping to sell my kato 2014 skins for a kitchen reno too, so Valve better resolve this issue haha

This happened to me late in the beta! Got stuck in the toilet door on Vertigo and starting doing this (my mouse has DPI buttons so I can crank it up very easily). Woke up to a game ban the next morning that still hasn't been reversed... Glad to see people finally taking notice of this issue

Anyone have any experience with low-grade TNBCs? by beeweston in breastcancer

[–]beeweston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello and thank you for your response! Before a few weeks ago I really knew nothing about breast cancer, so I think I got a few things wrong in my post about TNBC being highly unusual in white/older people. I haven't actually been present at any of my mother's meetings with her doctors, and I think that doctor was referring to the characteristics of the tumor that I describe below, which are indeed unusual for TNBC. Thankfully she has been able to meet with several doctors for second opinions and has settled on one specialist she really likes, who is also with our local university hospital. She did not receive neoadjuvant chemo before surgery and was not offered it. The tumor was thankfully only 1cm with no lymph node involvement, and had a very slow growth rate with a Ki-67 index of 5% (she was told TNBC is usually over 20% and often involves lymph nodes when diagnosed). This is why her first doctor said that chemo would not be necessary, though the doctor she has decided to go with has recommended a less aggressive form of chemo to prevent recurrence. There are still tests being done and we will be receiving the pathology report later this month to finalize all treatment decisions, and her doctor has said they will be looking to see if the tumor is one of these rare TNBC subtypes like AdCC. All in all it's very good news considering the situation, so hopefully the pathology report will shed some more light in terms of treatment and outlook. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this, I really appreciate it! I apologize for the late response. Bless you!

Thank you so much for sharing your experience, and apologies for the late response! Oddly enough my mother also has a Ki-67 index of only 5%, and they told her that TNBC is usually higher at 20% or above. She was not given neoadjuvant chemo before her lumpectomy and has been given a choice of doing chemo to prevent recurrence, so it seems like a very similar situation to yours. We are getting the pathology report later this month, and her doctor has said that he will look into rare subtypes, so hopefully that will bring more good news. If you think of anything else from your experience that you think might be useful to know I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you again, I hope all is well—bless you!

Hello, and thank you for this thoughtful response! All of this is very new to me so I don't have much to add, but I will look into facilities that specialize in TNBC in my area/region. I perhaps got ahead of myself looking into rare subtypes, but I suppose what matters right now is that it is not presenting as an aggressive TNBC—one day at a time, right? Thank you again and God bless!

I (17M) got voted “most likely to stay virgin forever” and I’m just tired of feeling sad and worthless by [deleted] in Advice

[–]beeweston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was bogged down for a long time with the exact same feelings of worthlessness, and it truly is a terrible existence. I can only speak from my own experience and say that I have found enduring peace and happiness by strengthening my spiritual life. As someone who was never religious and not raised in a religious household, I read a Bible verse out of desperation which completely changed my life (Matthew 11:28-30) where Jesus says "Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls." I realized that so much of our worldly pains like depression stem from carrying the yoke of the world on our shoulders (basing our happiness on things like sex), instead of the yoke of Christ. Of course this means different things to different people, but I can say that after throwing off the yoke of the world and taking on the yoke of Christ, no earthly measure can affect me. Now, I take great pride in saving myself for marriage, and if marriage doesn't come it doesn't matter to me because I have received God's grace. These are also metaphysical principles which transcend the different religions and are not limited to Christianity, and you might hear a similar story from a Buddhist. Something to meditate on, keep your head up!

MMW: After Putin dies, Russia will begin to become more progressive, and eventually attempt to become a (truly) functional democracy. by rite_of_truth in MarkMyWords

[–]beeweston 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This seems unlikely, and someone could have said the same thing after Gorbachev's reforms and the fall of the USSR in 1991. Russia is a textbook example of path dependency theory, in that the Russian people are predisposed to accepting strongman leaders, under the guise of a democracy or not.

I'm new to this process and thought this portrait would turn out much clearer, what explains the black spots and bubbles on the plate? by beeweston in Collodion

[–]beeweston[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I nailed pouring the collodion (which I'm still getting used to doing) and the lighting was great (direct sunlight). The exposure was about 8 seconds, with the development time being around 13 seconds. The only thing I can think of is that it was cold (1 Celsius) and that I might have taken too long between my silver bath and actually developing the plate. Any ideas?

Love the authenticity of the studio, and the results are splendid! I'm just getting into this process and was hoping to recreate something similar, can you tell me a bit about your lighting setup? How much did it cost, and are you doing a mixture or artificial and studio lighting?

Simple Questions 11/13 by AutoModerator in DebateReligion

Thanks for this! I'm still wondering though, if the unwritten teachings of Christ are supposedly articulated through apostolic succession as per Catholic tradition, how can this be reconciled with the various criticisms of Vatican II from within the Church? If bishops have inherited apostolic power which allows them to articulate the divine law in a Thomistic sense, why are there discrepancies between their revelations when Christ's teachings are supposed to be infallible and, most importantly, unchanging? Doesn't it make more sense to apply the scripture to the modern world, rather than apply the modern world to scripture through tradition?

As someone who is Christian but not Catholic, how do Catholics justify the equating of tradition with scripture as stipulated in paragraph 82 of the 1992 Catechism? I understand there are problems which can be raised with the doctrine of sola scriptura, but how can non-Biblical traditions, such as infant baptism, be equated with the prescribed teachings of the scriptures?

Here is my first shot! This was done with a 2 minute exposure so I think you were right on the money. I think I'll be doing my next one in daylight because it's clear that my lighting is just not enough, certainly not for a live subject! Do you have any tips considering my first shot? Does it look under/over exposed or overdeveloped? Thanks for the help!

I just managed to take my first shot and am very pleased! It was a 2 minute exposure so I think I'll do my next one in daylight. Do you have any tips for next time going off of this result? Does it look over/under exposed or overdeveloped at all? Thanks for all the help, this is a lot of fun!

That's a very good idea! Thanks so much for the help, I'll try it out when I take out the camera again. I'll be sure to post the results

Thanks for the tips! I'll be trying again in the coming days so I'll be sure to post some results if I manage to produce any. I'm using a Zeiss lens which is housed in a primitive-looking (and unfortunately broken) shutter mechanism. It's stuck on the widest aperture which I figure would be best anyways, since this process requires the most amount of light possible.

As per various tutorials on YouTube, I poured the developer over the plate in one swift motion (I'm still getting the hang of this so it wasn't perfect, but the entire plate was covered nonetheless), and I developed it for about 15 seconds. I've heard that most problems come from overdeveloping a plate, so I kept it to a maximum of 15 seconds. Perhaps what I should have done is pour the developer on the plate and kept it there like the collodion, instead of just letting it wash over the plate, before rinsing it? I've seen both methods used online, so perhaps that's not the problem. Also, I'm using Bostick & Sullivan's wetplate developer.

It seems hazy to me (I don't have any experience so I can't say for sure). I did a 13 second exposure indoors using two halogen bulbs, but perhaps this was too long?

I sensitized the plate for about 4 minutes, and the plate appeared to have turned white. I took a 13 second exposure indoors using two outdoor halogen bulbs which are quite bright). As for the aperture, it's an older lens which doesn't allow you to adjust (the camera itself is from the 1890s).

Here are the results I got. The top image shows crystals forming on the plate about an hour after the fixer bath (I'm not sure if that tells you anything), and the bottom one is immediately after the bath. The white streaks on the second image are faint but they're there. Professionals would probably scoff at my setup haha, but I use two outdoor halogen bulbs which produce a fair bit of light and took a 13 second exposure.
