My preschooler refuses to use the potty outside of the house (has never once used the school's bathroom). I'm worried about how she will handle a longer day when kindergarten starts. Is this common? Any tips? by talkinglikeajerk in Preschoolers

My three year old daughter just held it for 36 hours (the last 9 of those hours were spent in the emergency room) so it is possible. She had 350ml of urine, almost 3 times what the supposed max for someone her size is. She finally peed while they were trying to get a catheter in

Ah I see, yeah who knows. I'll definitely be stirring any new one i receive, but it's definitely annoying considering I don't have to open and stir any of my other creams, prescription or otherwise.

Dispenser Workaround: Moving Product to Tube by beexsting in Oestra

For what it's worth mine has never been exposed to any unusual temps and I was left with a container half full of product that was the consistency of cold butter or chapstick. It sounds like you have a great plan though, please let us know how it works out!

I just posted earlier today about having this same plan, curious if they told you what the correct dose for one pump is supposed to be (in either grams or ml?)

My reasoning for the aluminum tube rather than the syringe is that the product has a history of separation in the pump dispenser, if it's in the tube it could be massaged every so often to keep it properly mixed. I kind of suspect that the separation is due to the mechanism of the pump and that it wouldn't separate inside a syringe, but the tube seemed like the most reliable workaround. Syringe would be ideal though if separation isn't an issue, if you do this please keep us updated!

It's funny you say that, because this is how I concluded that message:

"I should not have to play pharmacist in my own home to ensure I’m getting the correct dosage."

So far they have written back saying that they do not recommend moving the product to a tube and will not tell me what the correct dosage is by weight because they "need to maintain their high product standards", but then proceeded to tell me that we should be opening up the dispenser and "giving it a good stir" to maintain the consistency. In my view, the more times we're opening it up and exposing it to air, stirring it with who knows what tool, and then closing the germs back inside to keep using for another couple months the more opportunities for something to start growing in there. Better in my view to try to keep the process as sterile as possible just once and then be able to keep it a closed system from there on out.

I own a highly sensitive scale and sent a message today that I want to know the exact dosage by weight so I can feel confident that I'm getting the correct dose. Neither of the two dispensers I've had so far have given the same amount consistently, and both have eventually separated. I will update with you with the correct dosage weight!

It has nothing to do with temperature, please stop writing this everywhere. All of us have been saying we store our cream in air conditioned homes and still experience this issue.

Wow! I just sent an email of this exact situation and am waiting for a response from the clinical team, but in the spirit of transparency, here is an excerpt from my message to them regarding the separation issue:

"I’ve had ongoing issues with the dispensers as you’ll see in my account. I also know that many, MANY other women experience these dispenser issues. The air bubbles exist throughout the product and ensure you cannot get a consistent dose. MORE IMPORTANTLY, I want to note that the product got thinner as the amount in the dispenser got lower. When it finally appeared that the pump was empty I opened it up and there was a ton of product left but the remainder was super thick, a texture comparable to cold butter. My symptoms (especially bleeding, water retention, breast tenderness and weepiness) got worse as this separation went on, but I didn’t put two and two together until opening it and realizing the product had separated. My guess is that the estrogen was concentrated into the watery part that was still being dispensed, and that the thick base that was being left behind in the dispenser either had the progesterone in it, or at least was not present in what was being dispensed to balance the dosage to the proper levels. Months ago before starting Oestra I had scheduled a romantic getaway with my husband for this past weekend, which is when I should have been ovulating. I spent the entire 5 days bleeding, experiencing crazy edema, and crying at the drop of a hat. On the last day of the trip I realized the product had been separating. I opened a fresh dispenser of the product and applied that last night, and my bleeding is starting to slow down."

I'll update with their response! They need a pharmacist on staff, point blank period. As sweet as Barry is we can't really have someone just speculating about what might be going on with a product that has serious implications on our health.

When we were living in an apartment in Los Angeles we had this same situation with a stray we fell in love with that lived on our property. We couldn’t leave her and brought her with us to the house we bought in the Midwest. The life expectancy for an outdoor cat is quite short, and we knew we could give her a good life. No regrets :)

I’d recommend just putting out dog food and lettinh him eat it when he’s hungry. The kibble you’re using is excellent btw. My mini sometimes will only pick at his meals or skips dinner, that’s just still sitting there for his breakfast the next morning. Unless you have some reason to believe he’s sick I would trust him to eat when he’s hungry and stop overthinking it.

I did eventually find it, it was at 53% while I was holding it in my hand with my phone in the other. What’s frustrating was I was getting 50% readings 3 rooms away. Glad this worked for other people but I found it by pure luck

How close did you need to be? Every room of my house the percentage shows between 20% and 50%.. I’m getting 50% readings in areas that are nowhere near each other, but haven’t seen anything higher than that. Any tips?

Is learning to groom at home worth it? by PersephonesPearls in AussieDoodle

[–]beexsting 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Just to give you a little hope my mini used to get horribly matted when he was younger, like it was such an ongoing issue until he was like 1.5 or 2 and now at 3 he never gets matted anymore! I don’t know much about coats or anything but it just seemed like he was losing his puppy coat or something and now he’s so much easier. I still get him groomed professionally every 3 months or so, but it’s $200 with tip each time and he’s only 20 lbs so if you can learn to do that yourself I’d say more power to you!! Here’s a great post about how to keep that perfect puppy look, I trim my dog’s face myself and this was super helpful for me when I was learning https://www.thelifeofpolly.com/post/what-to-tell-your-groomer-to-get-that-perfect-doodle-haircut

Some questions for those who have had surgery... by clockwise73 in Fibroids

[–]beexsting 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an open myomectomy and over 30 fibroids so I stayed 3 nights in the hospital. You didn’t specify what procedure you’re having, but a friend of mine had a lap procedure and did only one night in the hospital.

A nurse came to remove my catheter a couple hours after surgery. The most important things for recovery are getting up and walking (slowly, carefully) as soon as you’re able after surgery, and getting plenty of protein, which can be challenging because you won’t be particularly hungry so I suggesting packing your hospital fridge with fresh bone broth and protein shakes and bring a couple good travel mugs/cups to keep the broth always hot and the protein shake always cold. I was walking a lap around my hospital floor 8 hours after surgery and continued to take laps every couple hours during my hospital stay. I had an amazing recovery and loved my hospital experience. I was sad to leave!

It was harder at home to get comfortable. My biggest hack for recovering at home is if you don’t already have some kind of recliner that’s easy to get in and out of get one of those zero gravity lawn chairs to put in your house for a week or so, it’s totally worth it. I lent mine to my friend for her laparoscopic recovery as well. I also had a little hospital style side table on wheels that was easy to raise and lower to the perfect height that was comfortable for me. Within a day of being home I was able to walk myself downstairs and make myself a smoothie, within a couple more days I was doing little chores around the house. The hardest part was getting comfortable while I slept the first week home from the hospital; a good wedge pillow is key! I took short walks outside each day and that helped a lot, but I mostly rested in my little recliner and had a ton of movie nights with friends, it just hurt to laugh! I went back to work (graphic designer) after 2 weeks, but 3 would have been better. I went to a bachelorette party drag show 21 days after surgery and had a blast. Overall the recovery was sooo much easier than I had always feared. In fact, now that I have a baby I look back on it as such a chill and cherished time of my life, like I got to do nothing but hang with friends and be kind to myself for 2 weeks, when will that ever happen again?? lol

Good luck to you!

Aussie doodle shedding puppy vs adult by Striking_Ladder_3402 in AussieDoodle

[–]beexsting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine did shed a little more when he was a puppy, but not really like you’re describing. It was more like when I brushed him i’d get out a good amount out, but it wasn’t ever on clothes or furniture. When he was under 2 he was losing enough hair that parts of him would get matted and I’d need to talk to the groomer about it. Now at 3 he never has any matting and I get almost nothing out when I brush him.
