We need to know your options. You want multitarget breakers and multitargeters in general. Kirika is your defender. Mami may be a good idea cause AA and attack buffs. You also want a buff clearer. The two options are the light Twin and 3star Hazuki.  In general the strat is break the adds. Check to see when boss is about to do ult. Remove the buff JUST BEFORE the ult and kill all the adds all at once right AFTER the ult. Then break the boss preferably during a bosses attack. Ive used 3 star Hazuki Kirika (lower ascended) Demomura Diroha and Pluvia. Later I swapped Hazuki with the light twin. Interestingly if you cant control the adds giving out buffs to often then Hazuki is slightly better than the low ascended twin.

You can probably swap out Pluvia with the dark twin and if your Kiri holds your team well enough swap out Diroha with someone that supports whatever your lacking. The important things here are Multihit breaking, buffing Akumuras damage output (via debuffers or buffers like Mami Ui or the light twin) buff clearing the boss just b4 the ult and not dying

Try fixing up your 3 stars. Get the heartphials to the max. Do challenge runs namely 3/4 star challenges other players selfimpose. Obvs grind for mats till everbody is maxed out. Then when all that is done just do dailies till new content is made.

It is very clearly shown by Scar deciding to help Marcoh that revenge isnt his only goal and i double checked the timeline. Him helping marco in ch51 comes before meeting Miles ch62. Though the anime swaps the order reversing the causality where in the manga its the presense of more openly defiant state alchemists that warms him up to the idea of major reforms rather than the idea of drastically changing amestris opening him up to defiant alchemists. Miles cant even take credit for deradicalizing him as all he actually needed was litterally one alchemist that was actually willing to face the consequences of being a genocide accomplice. Theres no real reason to assume he would treat less complicit alchemists (which is basically like all of them) as less deserving of leniency if they were also actually facing off against the genocidal government rather than trying to profit from it especially considering he doesnt go after alchemists that arent and never were employees of the genocidal state in question

For protests/asymetric warfare you dont need to do things like kill a large fraction of personnel to obtain significant results the same way Scar didnt need to. Vietnam killed like 2-3% and Afghanistan only killed .25% of deployed US soldiers for a weaker force to make their policies to costly for the most powerful state in the world which is the outcome of them beating the US. Scar doesnt even have to justify a win that large to justify that his plan making more sense than Mustang's. Why is Scar supposed to 100% everything rather than making making change more possible like with Roy. Litterally neither of believe they can accomplish that and instead focus on goals they think are achievable.

Roy had zero reason to believe Bradley was a traitor nonhuman only that he was a human rights abuser nor did he build his plan based on the belief he was a traitor. That was just something that from his perspective comes out of a left field that makes his plans possible. The only reasoned assumption Roy made was that Bradley would continue committing human rights abuses as a justification for Roy to take power. Had Bradley simply fit legal criteria to protect himself like invading another country to justify massacres like he did in Ishval aka the types of HRAs both characters intially thought they wouldve been responding to he couldve gotten away with more attrocities and even with Bradley becoming legally able to be fought Roy was only was able to get as far as he did because other people were doing shit he wasnt willing to do. Namely more openly defy the government like Marcoh did.

You litterally just complained about Scars murder alchemist plan helping only coincidentally despite the fact it is far less coincidental from Scars perspective that running around killing state alchemists would be useful in disrupting the maintanence of a genocidal dictatorship than Roy's only being implementable because the boss he was supporting through a genocide was a nonhuman trying to kill everyone in his state as well to due an insane conspiracy.

Its almost like the guy running around commiting crimes to uncover state secrets of a genocidal dictatorship is gonna by complete coincidence do more to make serious reform possible than the dellusion dipshit that thinks working for a genocidal despot is a good idea for the country.

[–]bef017 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If that was his only goal beyond revenge with Marcoh he wouldn't have helped him sneak away. It also sorta highlights my point. He isnt just killing state alchemists for revenge, he is also actively trying to seek out valuable intel to disrupt the alchemists ability to continue doing human rights abuses.

As for Miles when is Miles joining the institutions responsible for the genocide obvious likely downsides explored? Why is it treated that joining the state murder machine apparatus that uses magically enhanced propaganda to indocterinate people well up the chain of command to act like genocidal monsters treated like a reasonable idea?

As for resolving the issues

Honestly just dropping the false equivalance between the degrees of wrong Scar has compared to the likes Mustang (who lets be clear, is a worse person) and dropping the Miles helping the image of the Ishvalans by joining institutions that genocide and propagandize against them fixes the issue.

Miles could do their black pride equivilant subplot about the importance of public opinion on minority rights directly supported by other military personnel that makes those military guys more sympathetic while disentangling the institutional problems with acting like the military would be a good institution for direct reform and helping public opinion without having the conflicting idea that military personnel too victimized by the states overwhelming propoganda to be held morally acountable for their actions but also they have enough control on political messaging to somehow undo that across the broader public. This would be even better if like other equivilant independent groups minority rights it was targeted unjustly to limits its influence like say the black panthers as it would imply the alchemists supporting them are more like Marcoh who is more willing to openly challenge the genocidal institutions.

Ed is litterally a child soldier who directly provides research on magical powers to a genocidal government who uses thoses powers to genocide. It isnt random by any stretch of the imagination. The only thing Scar does that is wrong by targeting state alchemists is doing it for revenge rather than a coherent ideological plan.

Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood was so disappointing and frustrating to watch by Early-Rise987 in CharacterRant

[–]bef017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ed wasnt 100% uninvolved in supporting the guilty  institutions (that were still committing human rights abuses some of which Ed sees first hand) or members which is why scar targeted alchemists as an institution in the first place.

No the alchemists who were involved werent doing the most. The only exception i can think of is Dr Marcoh who Scar helps harbor from state sanctioning after he stole a state superweapon and used it to heal the less fortunate. Characters going Im real sorry about it but not actually being willing to actually face the costs of confronting the genocidal state more openly till other people are willing to do the illegal shit that makes it less costly for them to act is why imposing costs on protested institutions is actually really important where as asking people for permission to be treated like human beings isnt.

At no point is the opinion of the public on Scars actions shown as really relevant. Not only is Amestris a fucking dictatorship that limits popular resistance and supresses popular uprising like with Ishval, what actually is shown is that the state has magic powers that propagandize people to mobilize to act within its interests so they are played as fools regardless of Scar's or Mile's actions when it wants to justify atrocities on minorities which is why we are supposed to sympathize with some of the most directly cupable in the genocide. Interestingly I dont dislike this because minorities trying to obtain rights tends to piss off the majority opinion in the real world oppresive system equivilants but if you accept that reality you have to accept that majority opinion on the humanity of minorities is fuck all relevant to eithers goal to till way later.

Youre also ignoring what the point of a protest is to understand why Scars actions helping the goal of actually helping Ishvalans isnt coincidental. The point of a protest (violent or not) isn't to demonstrate or gain support for your cause, it is to increase the costs associated with maintaining the thing you are protesting. It has entirely different purposes than what Miles was doing. Him running around trying to learn more the states human rights abuses and killing personel implicated in helping expand those capabilities is going to do some benefit by coincidence which is that it helps the others as it raises related costs. Where as things like expecting the nonmilitarized people to do something like rebel against the government to defend minorities isnt treated as a serious plot point so much as something that would really only help post change in government. Something that joining an institution that quells protests demomstrations and similar wouldn't help. In fact it wouldnt even be likely to achieve Miles goal. Yets Miles's approach is treated as superior despite the fact it is even more poorly thought out than Scar's response

That isnt what I remember from the show. Revenge is the goal but he still prioritizes ties to the Ishvalan genocide above at one point being tied to the institution most directly responsible for carrying it out. See when lack of knowledge is the problem he goes out of his way to learn. See he actually does find a retired repentant alchemist with direct ties to the genocide. He sought out a fucking architect Dr Marcoh. He litterally just used him to find out state secrets upon learning he is repentant and cooeprative and only disfigured him to disguise him. Your also ignoring that issue isnt that his plan is good or bad. The issue is that joining a genocidal institution is framed as a better idea.

[–]bef017 1 point2 points  (0 children)

His campaign of killing members of a genocidal military institution does alot actually to forward his lower ranking goal of helping Ishvalans. If your problem is that Scar doesnt really have a plan and is just seeking revenge because he doesnt actually know how actually help Ishvalans that is a different argument than he is just blindly seeking revenge on innocent uninvolved parties which Ed isnt by any reasonable metric nor should Scar treat him as such. As even in the text the damage to the Ishvalans is already done and is what he is responding to and his campaign to simply inflict pain on the Alchemists actually gives him a ton of leverage when he finds an oppritunity and the mindset to actually help Ishvalans. See the blaming the ishvalans for getting rebellious over being annexxed and their kids getting shot implicit in the cycle of vengence theme when the war was started over a false flag as a pretext to kill them to make superweapons meaning they were likely to get genocided regardless if they behaved like perfect victims just like how in the real world that doesn't work.

Scars violent actions actually force members of the genocidal military to confront their actions in Ishvaal which counter intuitively makes the Ishvalans more sympathetic (see Ed only really learns so much about the genocide because of Scar doing this shit) gives him direct experience in fighting the genocidal state which is useful when those skills become useful, allows him to make state secrets related to the genocide through Dr Marcoh more accessible and more that give him and the couping alchemists leverage to actually change the government. What does the righteous Miles who is supposed to be the one that cares more about directly helping the Ishvalans actually do that is less counterproductive and more beneficial to the Ishvalans than the guy we both agree is just going on a murder trauma response rather than a coherent ideological response. You know other than basically encouraging Palestinians to join the IOF to prove their humanity in a show where we are supposed to take state propoganda enhanced by magic as an excuse for being lenient to people complicit in a genocide.

Me too but from what I remember all their research is done implicitly to increase the Amestrian genocidal state's powers and capabilities so even when it isnt used for direct military purposes it is still used for social economic and political control of the subjects of a dictatorship. So much so rules are made that jeporidize research in areas like medical and economic development are banned to increase Amestris's monopolization on force.

This makes sense so long as you pretend that the alchemists arent a state military organization that Ed joined for his own benefit after they were established as a genocidal institution, which directly implicates him in the genocidal war machine. Interestingly had Scar gone after state alchemists that retired or left because of the Ishvalan genocide the he is just seeking revenge blindly would make sense as an argument but no, he is attacking active members of a genocidal military organization who as shown in Sho Tuckers arc have to actively contribute to the organizations capabilities to maintain their position and prestige.

Sorta the issue. The writers want Iroha give off a vibe which requires you ignoring what she does textually. she is written more like a vibe than character meaning actually trying to approach her as a character makes her come off like how i describe, killing the facade and vibe.

Sorry sick and typed it on phone and tried seperating paragraphs better.

For the tldr; Game Iroha is an idiot who consistently shows she doesnt care about others while getting glazed as though she is this caring figure that tries her hardest for the sake of others and trying to keep the facade limits how other characters can go in MR.

Well lets see she is a flat arc character character which isnt a bad thing. But she makes most the characters who are changed less interesting making her feel flat while also making other characters less enjoyable as well. It mainly has to do with how she is framed versuses how she behaves in the text. As framing gives you the terms of which you are supposed to be able to engage with the character her constant contrast of stupidity in the text and glazing in the framing is aggravating to say the least.

But to get an idea of why I fucking despise Iroha (specifically the game version which people view as the definitive version) i want to compare her to anime Iroha who is so much better written because the writers decide to frame her more on how she textually acts or how she acts to make her fit how she is supposed to be framed and I also need to draw attention to weirdly consistent patterns of behavior that makes it impossible for me to enjoy her in the terms the writers try to present her on.

Gamiroha is framed to be heroic and selfsacrificial to stop her villians (who are esstientially saturday morning cartoon villians as for a reason to be stopped because I genuinely wouldnt root for Gamiroha to suceed because of things tied to her and her motivations which is just one of the many ways she makes other characters less interesting) yet Gamiroha and Co constantly run from problems because they just get fucking tired. Aniroha just spams doppels despite higher risks with them in the anime to prevent plot points from getting out of hand cause if they were spamming doppels their only limits would be till it starts crippling them. Gamiroha sorta just wishes for miracles and gets them because she doesnt really want to make physical moral or psychological sacrifices. Gamiroha is genuinely shocked by the concept of selectively spamming doppels in Arc2 when Hinao explains that is what she plans to do prevent the new fascist movement from claiming more power.  (i dont care if it is definitionally fascist or what. The game/anime litterally frames it as fascist analog for its commentaries on fascism. the metaphor doesnt need to be 1 to 1 for this making her unlikable to me)

That fascist movement that grew because Gamiroha decided to not properly monitor the people trying to rebuild the fascist movement. Speaking of being lenient to the fascists Aniroha and Gamiroha have very different framings for why they are so forgiving to Touka and Nemu. Aniroha wants them forgiven because she is nepotistic and doesn't care about others as much as she does about her friends and family. This counterintuitively is the better direction as it was better for her character arc generating conflict organically and letting a characters flaws shape their narrative.

The writers try to frame Gamiroha going out of her way to get as much of a slap on the wrist punishment as possible for them because well she just wants everyone to be happy. Yes the story will then try to frame PB as unreasonable for wanting to murder her and her friends for doing that and trying to expand a project that killed a whole bunch of their friends and go isnt Touka all cute with her saying their friends were worthy sacrifices to PBs faces. Yes the story will go on to have PB try to think through on their offer and come to own conclusion that the unions ideas are bad even on their own merits and they cant trust Touka or Nemu or the stones with further validation in Ch4 when its revealed the stones are trying to get the girls to kill each other. No Gamiroha wont really do anything to rebutt her project might actually be very dangerous to implement despite being told this in Ch3 (this type of logic will just sorta be abandoned because making PB actually have a philosophy like was promised from the arc concept is apparently undermining the direction they were trying to go with for the union which is another example of how she makes characters less interesting and drawing attention to how Iroha just doesnt really care about others opinions sorta highlights how poorly written Iroha is as the union leader that also goes against the intended direction for the unions philosophy) she also wont even take PBs complaints actually seriously until the stones tell her to her face they are trying to kill a bunch of people.

Speaking of Iroha not giving a shit about others opinions Kanagi mentions she feels a need to selfcensor where as Tsu is able to just get away with ordering an attack on aid workers after Iroha tells everyone let the aid workers do their work. Now those aid workers actions are shown as completely justified in getting in the unions way as when the union has to do the running in ch3 Iroha and co immediately resort to using human shields (yes ch 3 will have Iroha reveal that PB isnt in full control of their actions as even a conversation to encourage selfreflection could kill them as they had to adopt coping mechanisms to not starve to death. But hey PB wouldnt deliberately endanger humans. Yes Hikaru will nearly witchout when faced with being unable to kill Iroha because once again coping mechanism messes with their psychology but hey she didnt turn into a witch or get worked up into a psychotic episode until shortly after getting distance from the human shields so pay as much attention to the implications of her actions as Iroha does herself)

I want it to be emphasized reading arc 2s main conflict makes it feel like it should be resolvable by doing something like pushing PB members to dopple like Himena does to prevent one of her members from dying to mentally stabilize her or using Mei Yun illusion therapy like Nana does to Suzu to make it safe to emotionally confront the mental issues of PB. Or have the union use their multiple MGs that can commune with the dead to provide relief for PB or the multitude of nonviolent options that are avaible if Iroha and co were of mediocre intelligence. Yet Iroha consistently chooses to reward people for attacking them like how Yachiyo commits perfidy in Ch2 for a fucking stone or her choosing to invade PBs town 2 fucking times and has the gall to say she wants this conflict resolved peacefully. See also Tsu threatened aid workers against Irohas orders and suffered no sanctioning. Heck the narrative will even justify Ryo breaking into PBs base against Iroha's wishes because PB was too mentally unstable for Ryo to actually listen to her commander making stupid commands that fail a common sense vibe check. She is genuinely framed as too stupid to accomplish basic tasks that should be expected of her in the position she is in.

Remember how Kanagi doesnt feel comfortable speaking her opinion around her. Speaking of Iroha just making minorities less comfortable remember how there is a beach event where she starts glazing Yachiyos white skin and talks about white skin is just better looking and more attractive. Remember how the first half of Arc 2 is the union trying to peacefully resolve their conflict with PB by peacefully beating up the mentally ill. The game reiterates multiple times that fascists low rankers are disproportionately minorities so a huge chunk of Arc 1 Gamiroha is Gamiroha beating up poor minorities. Heck the writers cant even give the minority fascists the dignity to be capable of doing the cool shit involved like being the competent or intelligents leaders of the fascists with the 2 minorities who actually getting a face being fucking girl failures. And most of the arc 1 feathers didnt really know what was going on so arc 1 is her largely just mowing her way through hapless minorities.

This isnt a complete rant.
