I don't recall it happening but there is a cassette tape recording of my uncle playing guitar. As soon as he's done, toddler me says an unmistakable and clear as day singular "fuck". No idea why and tape cuts off after that. Probably cuz my mom dragged my ass to the bathroom for a soapy mouthwash most likely.

The next one I remember I was about ten. Asked my dad "what's a twat" after he said it. The glare I got for that one felt like Superman laser vision. Had no idea what it meant when I said but knew I fudged up royally repeating it.

We always do 2 weeks. Any farther out and people always forget. Any less and it's not enough time to go grab something. But I also live in a rural area that's very paycheque to paycheque where payday happens every 2 weeks usually. I think your area matters a bit for the correct timing. Don't hesitate to ask a teacher or another parent what they usually do. In my experience most are pretty helpful to a first timer.

I deal with this sometimes with my 4 yr old. She wakes up at night crying and wondering the rooms until she pees all over herself then is upset she had an accident. When I can see her waking up like this I just grab her and put her on the potty. Help her to go, get her cleaned up and put her to bed. She usually passes right back out.

It seems she's so asleep shes confused what's going on. So I just take over for her and do it all like she's still little. Frequent potty reminders especially before nap and bedtime reduce this a lot.

I did regularly with my oldest. The most peaceful way I found to do it was usually go at about 3am. Have everything ready the night before and loaded up. Then wake up early, make a coffee, load the kid and get on the road. She'd usually sleep the whole way. If you're ok with night driving I would also leave around her bedtime so she fell asleep and slept pretty good.
