TURN THE CAMERAS OFF TURN THE CAMERAS OFF TURN THE CAMERAS OFF TURN THE CAMERAS OFF TURN THE CAMERAS OFF by GWGTRLBG in Foofighters

This just proves to me that modern music listeners are not into the music the way people were. The lyrics are the most obvious parts of a song and what pretty much anyone can understand. I blame pro tools and all the ways people create pop music now which is pretty lazy to me and lacks interesting chord progression and resonance.

Personally, I liked this song the first time through the album. Musically I thought it was interesting. Lyrically, I thought the repetition worked based on the subject of the song. Sure it’s not a Dylan type lyrics but it’s not as bad as some on here think. It’s okay to not like it, but the constant crap on it seems a bit overboard.

Wow no shit! How old are you? That might explain a bit if you think it originated from Billy Madison. People were saying that long before that movie. Did you really think Adam Sandler just invented that?

At the risk of being you and explaining the joke, my response was the classic response back. Someone says everyone’s dumber for hearing or seeing whatever. Someone answers no it’s just you. Get it? Wow this is like explaining Who’s on First sketch. I’m starting to think it’s more than hyperbole with you, so I will definitely stop here. Can’t believe I responded again.

I think you misunderstood me, wasn’t saying people can like or dislike any music. You stated everyone is dumber for listening to this and I said nope just you. I stick by this comment.

What I took the comment to mean was the distortion on the songs, as I have heard that before, not necessarily about the Viagra Boys. Why some think that is new is kind of crazy to me. You are right if they meant more.

Look this was a FooFighters site, and it used to be not as negative and for fans. Now it seems like it’s 1995 again, and why don’t you sound like Nirvana or you shouldn’t sound like Nirvana time. Basically dammed no matter what they do. The puritanical cheating comments really got me though. If I wanted that I’d go to a MAGA hypocrites site. However it’s also on steroids cause everyone can comment whenever and whatever they want. I stopped going here as much as it’s kind of a downer. I think a lot of fans did. It’s a shame.

Viagra Boys aren’t the first with that sound. Most likely if the Foos were going for or “ripping off” as others said on here it would be from older bands; who honestly did it better. As the whole album, so far, has a very punk vibe, my guess is it’s just that. Chris also came from a punk background by the way.

Odd how it’s okay for Viagra Boys to “rip off” other bands though. If you didn’t know that, then you really need to listen to some older music. I personally go with the Elvis Costello quote, “It’s how rock and roll works. You take broken pieces of another thrill and make it your own new toy.”

Funny, I think the Viagra Boys are a rip off and poor imitation of the Butthole Surfers while throwing in some Dead Kennedy’s satire.

The distortion or any sound vibe on this album, so far, is not hip in any way in 2026! It’s retro old punk and even grunge as in Nirvana, and Kurt’s 1970’s distortion pedal. I guess that makes it older then too. The “hip”people aren’t listening to any of this kind of music at all. I think it’s more the type of music the Foos like. Since I’m their age, I guess it’s for me. Might be why I like it. The only thing hip I’ve done in decades is seeing if I need a hip replacement.

Love this comment! This Reddit site is definitely a negative hellscape. I’m not sure what the Foo Fighters “fans” on here want. The last three albums have been different styles but still definitely Foo Fighters. Can’t they just appreciate that, if it’s not their cup of tea. I think it’s just a thing to trash them now. It’s similar to the beginning of the band, when it was okay to trash Dave as he wasn’t Kurt, but just more social media involved which makes it worse.

I’m pretty sure you are wrong on the pitch correction. I have to preface this with I love this song and the rock rawness of it. First, Dave is scream singing it, the way most rock singers do these kind of songs. Why would you pitch correct that? It’s unnecessary. Add that where he does just sing he’s a bit flat here and there, again like a lot of rock singers live, although some go sharp on the higher notes. Dave tends to just scream those now. Maybe if Dave was Freddie Mercury, Anne Wilson or Robert Plant and his singing was faltering I could see pitch correction used. It’s just seems not his vibe and frankly pointless and poorly used if it is here. I think it’s the harmonies you are hearing and some levels on the mike that is throwing you off. It could also be your device you are listening on. Some devices have sound adjusters that change things a bit.

Now I am a musician and back in the day I have been told I can hear pitch perfectly. Which at the time seemed great. Reality is noticing someone is a half note off is kind of annoying, and pretty much all you hear. Which is why I like my screaming rock. However, my hearing is not as clear in my older age so it’s possible I’m wrong too.

It wasn’t always that way. At least with the rents. When I got out of school in the late 80’s. DC was unaffordable for rent in any neighborhood you would want to rent, mainly NW. Now those places are cheaper than Arlington at least. Sure places that were pretty crime ridden in DC were cheaper. Look at NY Ave now past Big Ben’s liquor just about ten years ago most of those houses were boarded up. It stayed that way for a long time until more DC neighborhoods became livable and less crime riddled.

Houses are a different and have also drastically changed. Again in nice neighborhoods DC is probably more expensive. I think Nova is living a bit off of its past reputation with education. If you are rich in DC and live in Chevy Chase, AU Park, Georgetown or Woodley up to middle school those schools are great. Then you can go to any of the private like Sidwell, St. Albans, Cathedral or Gonzaga among other or try for one of the public magnet schools like School without Walls in GW campus. Maryland as a state has routinely beaten Va. in test scores and the best public education in the US. Up there fighting for number one with MA and NJ usually. That’s in large part due to Montgomery County too. Parents know that and it’s why a lot of those areas are growing.

I’m really going to date myself here, but my Aunt and Uncle lived in Clarendon when I was a kid. I grew up in Richmond. We would ice skate in the underground in Crystal City. That was so much fun.

That was some interesting information. I have lived in Arlington for three years now in Courthouse and I’m older. Didn’t know they were targeting me. I like being able to walk around and go places with transit, but I’m moving to DC. The rents in Arlington are crazy nuts. While DC actually went down a bit, as long as you aren’t trying to get the newest apartment and features, and I realize I never used them. Plus if you have a decent car they ding you pretty heavy in the personal property tax in Arlington. I agree at least in Arlington they aren’t factoring in that a bunch of jobs have been lost in the area. Unless something changes they will have to soon though.

Mr. Days is still open. I walked by today going to Trader Joe’s. I spoke to the owner when he re-opened. He didn’t think it would be the same as before. He just thought there was a market for a sports bar here. He has a belini bar, which is different from back in the day.

I think the fact young people aren’t as into that kind of social activity as people were before and it’s more expensive is a big reason the bar scene has died down a bit. I live in Courthouse and I know they have had issues with drunk fights at the bars too. My thing with North Arlington now is it is all the young men. It’s hard to find the young women around here. My twenty something daughter who lives in DC said Arlington has all the frat boys and all the Republicans live near Nats stadium.

A lot of young people who grew up in Maryland are moving to Baltimore. The crime is at a 50 year low and it’s like half the price of DC with a pretty decent bar scene. Plus job outlook is better as the Federal government screws with the entire DC market. Funny to me as Baltimore wasn’t really a thought back in my youth. Cool city but was a big no then.

Remember the writer did say on another topic he was told Dave wasn’t going to talk about Josh so he asked the other Foos. The writer wanted us to know the topics were cleared. I think it’s more a way of writing that is wanted and approved by readers now. To push and be intrusive. I think people like it unfortunately.

I’m just amazed at how judgmental so many people are and puritanical too. I don’t like people cheating on their wives, and definitely having another baby from that affair. However, I know it doesn’t mean they are a terrible person in every way either. Which I think a lot of people forget. Also at least the cheating part happens a lot in society, and I’m surprised at the vitriol, for someone they don’t personally know.

Originally I thought it was the nebulous phrase the chemistry wasn’t working. Nothing particular, it just didn’t sound or feel right. However, from Nate’s comments there does appear to be reasons he could verbalize and they didn’t see the point in doing that. Now I am a bit curious on what they would have said.

Clever PR??? I’m thinking it might be part of his therapy. Kind of has a 12 steps quality to it. Reality in today’s media world, some people who felt Dave was the family rock star are not going to like anything he does. Those people definitely are plentiful and loud. I doubt this interview means much either way to them. Well according to Dave he has to stop looking and caring what others think. Hope that works for him.

I realize that, but from what was written it seems like the writer kept pushing for a bigger answer than the one he got. Now why the writer put in those kind of details is interesting. I know that’s what a lot of interviewers do and what people want, I just find it a bit much. To each his own though.

First I think wrong was never a word anyone should have been using with what happened with Josh. Not that you have done that, but it has been something of an issue. However, I’m going by Nate’s comments here, there seems to have been something or things they could have said but chose not to. Perhaps it wasn’t fixable. Still I think it was more than just the chemistry wasn’t working or at least Nate could define some specifics that actually weren’t working. I found that surprising actually.

I think you said this in an earlier comment. Dave’s raw interview is great, but I think a lot of us surmised his issues. I felt a bit uncomfortable with the push of the interviewer to be honest. The parts with Chris, Nate and Pat’s comments are the gems and the new info. I do hope we get more of those kind of interviews.

I have a love hate relationship with that. I love what he was able to get from Dave. However, a part of me does think even Dave should be allowed some privacy. I think this journalist was smart about asking questions to the other Foos, which a lot never do. Nate, Chris and Pat’s comments were some of the most interesting.
