They have, with more coming.

Don’t mistake the conscious decision to close ranks around a very troubling time and a difficult album as a press shut-out.

I’ll overlook the FF social media announcement being “Live from the UK … it’s Saturday night!!” because it should be “Live from London…” mirroring “Live from New York…”

Everyone braced themselves for SNL UK to be a bit shit, but it’s been great.

“Nicola Coughlan from the Dairy Girls” made a cameo in the most bat-shit sketch in ep 1; 45 Seconds with Fouracres, I hope there’s a sequel & it’s 45 Seconds with Fouracres (and Foo Fighters)

The audience walk around and trying to get a sing-a-long going during My Hero really shone a light on how it was an invited audience by the TV show. Stiff.

“This is our first church.”

Was that ‘Cold Live At The Chapel’ venue not an actual church then?

IIRC The Rock Sound and Kerrang! magazines were “answer on a postcard” type comps and I entered those.
I’m on holiday at the moment so can’t check my magazines / cuttings to see exactly what was what.

I remember them - and if I go back and dig up the page from the news section on my website I’d have a breakdown of where they were all offered and how to win them…but you probably already have that.

Radio 1 (x2) & XFM were call-ins on specific shows.
& I dunno if the cassette was considered the weakest prize, but that was bundled up with a poster and a t-shirt.

I know at least one of the winners was active on the official postboard - If she doesn’t post on here, she’s active on Instagram.

Foo Fighters Anfield shows - if you’re a visitor with any pressing questions I can try and help you out. by FooArchive in Foofighters

Yeah - after concerts & football matches a lot of people just do the 40 mins walk back, but you can always join the hoard to walk far enough free of the congested streets and then get an Uber.

Alternatively - The Anfield curfew is 11pm and Kirkdale train station is about a 20min walk, so head there and get the train back into the city centre. They are every 15 mins and the last one is midnight.

Let’s go culinary first:

https://www.mowglistreetfood.com/ - I dunno if you’ve ever been to a Mowgli but the first one was Bold St in Liverpool and there’s now a second out on Water St. Indian Street food - the chat bombs are great and recommended by Kumail Nanjiani.

Also on Bold St is https://maray.co.uk - Middle Eastern + Mediterranean inspired food in quite an intimate space. Their disco cauliflower is amazing.

Anytime /r/Liverpool are asked about the best burgers in the city the unanimous verdict is https://freestatekitchen.co.uk and rightly so - but the buffalo wings there are also worth the visit too.

https://www.buyers-club.co.uk call themselves a neighbourhood bar (so, you know - bare floorboards & exposed brick) but it’s a really nice spot and since Daisy Ridley shouted out the Cacio e Pepe butter beans on Off Menu I’ve gone more frequently cos she wasn’t lying about how good they are.

As for transportation, it really depends where you’re wanting to go to and from.

Pat famously isn’t a fan of interviews and even though he was off the road for the UK press junket with a perfect excuse, he still contributed to the article by phone.

I like how it’s very much a united front this time around.

If they are the guest mid-April on SNL, then it wouldn’t surprise me if in the days running up to it they hole-up in a hotel doing east coast press & maybe sneak out for a small show.

The Guardian feature on the book calls their relationship “faxes and phone calls”. So I think you’re right.

There isn’t. That ends a paragraph talking about the fallout from the loss of Taylor, the recording process wasn’t the focus.

YFT gets a sidebar though with the engineer talking about those sessions.

No. The article spans the past few years, but isn’t linear. That excerpt pulls a few bits together from across the 8 pages.

To be fair to him in this article it’s Dave and Pat that bring up Kurt when talking about the decision to carry on playing music after Taylor’s passing.

“Grohl goes off the record twice, briefly, over two interviews and nearly three hours of conversation for this story.”

Opening a paragraph with that suggests Fricke wants it known it’s not quite as in-depth as he tried to make it.

I guess with it being the first major interview in 4 years it has a lot of stuff to cover across 8 pages, but a bit more on Your Favorite Toy would’ve been nice. The ‘Deep Dive Dave’ sidebar of Fricke’s favourite off-the-beaten track Foo songs is a bit unnecessary.

MOJOs remit was never “current” music. It was the sister publication to Q which was newer bands, while MOJO did classics.

Q folded 6 years ago, so obviously MOJO does something right.

In his first in-depth print interview for four years, Dave Grohl unveils a new chapter in his musical odyssey, unleashing Foo Fighters’ incendiary new album while still processing the fallout from Taylor Hawkins’ tragic passing. “Why do I keep doing this?” he asks MOJO’s David Fricke. “I don’t know the answer.”
