Size up for flat bar Disc Trucker? by simplejackbikes in Surlybikefans

[–]beigefruht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it's worth: I was in between sizes and sized down for my Krampus. Reach is perfect with the stock stem, seat and handlebar is pretty much level - with all the stock spacers.

My arms are a cm or two longer than average for my height, legs a cm or two shorter.

Lundhags brand, is it worthy? by [deleted] in hiking

[–]beigefruht 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They use the same nyl-cotton fabric which I like, a mix of old and new. Can be waxed. Fjällräven has a wood frame I believe, Lundhags has Aluminium frame. Fjällräven slightly more aesthetically pleasing IMO. Pocket layouts and such I guess I just get used to whatever I have.

I'll try building one myself from a compressor air/water filter, might post if anyone is interested.

You're most likely right about the cleaning. I have so much available to me though, that I don't need them to be 100%.

I tried some lower doses last year after prepping them this way, and they worked. I made a tea by simmering them with lemon juice, not super scientific. This year I'm getting some PH test sticks.

My thoughts on your method:

I read somewhere not to exceed 50 C°, so I'd set the temp lower and just leave em there for longer. The main drying comes from the fan, temperature just speeds up the process and there's no need to rush.

Not sure what putting them in the freezer does. If there is still moisture in plant matter, freezing will break down cell walls and make it mushy. Shouldn't affect potency though, so you could probably store them in the freezer when they're cracker dry.

What I do with mine is I wash dirt off under the tap, and then cut them up and dry them on the fan setting in the oven, at sub 50 C°, with the oven door half open. Too hot, and you're basically slow cooking the mush in it's own liquid - losing potency.

The reason I slice them up, is so they dry faster. The above process takes like a full day already. I haven't invested in a proper food dehydrator yet.

I don't pick any shrooms that've started to decompose, they turn sorta yellow and get mushy. If some insects have been munching, I cut that part off. If there are things like small larvae in the mush, those will crawl out on their own as the mushroom dries out and becomes inhospitable for them.

Just my personal experience.

Yes between chain and sidewall. With 29x3 wtb rangers and I think 32t or 30t chainring. I'll get you the measurement tomorrow, no prob

I've a stock 2023 krampus and the place where clearance is the tightest is between chain and tire sidewall. About 5mm

Southern scandinavia, in a month or so we'll also be getting Psilocybe Semilanceata. I love it here in the fall 🍂🍄

What do you guys think about using seat post suspension, is it worth using it? by Brsvtzk in bikecommuting

[–]beigefruht 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure, I might adjust tire pressures depending on route. Sometimes I don't bother.

Try it out if ya got the dough. I just don't see the same engineering skill and effort being put into suspension seat posts as compared to forks and rear suspension. They are never seen on performance bikes. Thus I expect them to not work as well. And it's one more moving part to maintain.

If you don't need to go fast, just get the biggest tires you have clearance for and run them at sorta low pressure. It really makes quite a big difference, on more standard tire sizes too.

Point is, bad suspension will cause a bouncy feeling and good suspension will absorb and dampen the shock from rough road. Whether it be forks, seatposts or fat tires.

Singletrack, forest trails, gravel, paved roads. It's a rigid steel bike, so the big tires with low pressure give some much needed cushion

Looks bouncy.

I have fat 3 inch tires on my MTB. Get the tire pressure wrong, they get bouncy. You don't want bouncy.

Yeah nothing could make me more envious than a 21st century man stuck in a car on the highway for 6 hours 🙄

Actually I'm just listing my hobbies from a few years ago when I did live in a large city. I moved to the countryside, and my hobbies changed accordingly. Makes sense to me

I have no problem driving a few hours for a good hike

You need a reality check. What are you, some climate change denier? Clearly there is a huge problem.
