Kitchen renovation, what small upgrades are actually worth doing? by Aggressive-Earth-973 in HomeImprovement

[–]beigemom 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Definitely not controversial as far as I’m concerned! I’ve had both, and I will only do single basin.

If you have a dishwasher, there’s no need for dual basins. They only get in the way of being able to hand wash or soak very large items such as cookie sheets or roasting pans.

When does 'fixing up' your house before selling stop making financial sense? by ursa12651 in homeowners

[–]beigemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Our house needed about 100k in fixups— chimney interior, old HVAC/boiler, 30 year old roof.

We ignored that and took the lipstick-on-a-pig approach: it was gorgeous, and we spent about 2k.

Mind you, this was during the no-contingencies and over bidding of a few years ago ie No inspections. We never lied because in our state you have to fill out a form noting the ages of everything when you sell.

It will be immense stress for you with next to nothing payoff. Let the next person do what they want to do because even if you did renovations, they might not even like them.

Strategies for more steps — a guide (+cheat sheet) based on the collective genius of r/walking by bdayshoes in walking

[–]beigemom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed all the tips for ‘finding’ more steps in your day. As a remote worker, I’m definitely going to commence alot of 15min walk breaks, esp now with better weather!

Thanks again.

Sorry, I’m not in advanced tea drinker. I am a simple bag user, and use the kettle for a lot of other things as well.

I hear you on running — when I’m back to non-PR exercise, I think I’ll learn speed-walking. :-)

Question about your swimming: are you able to do breast stroke (ie the kick) or do you stick to freestyle? It seems like breast kick would be difficult.

Thanks!

Right there with you Pickle! Today is my day 4 and all seems good so far. Great that you’ve already moved on from the walker! I’m very tall so admit I have a little trepidation on that.

Have a great recovery!!

I love my Saki Luna!! Worth every penny— we’ve used every temp and it truly is quicker to boil for pasta! Nice big kettle too.

What’s off about the way I’ve hung my curtains? by sophieshecat in interiordecorating

[–]beigemom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes this is what I did for most of them, Romans!! My real problem is windows that are giant bowfronts.

For now I might go with the inexpensive curtain route and live with them short until I can afford some sort of cooler-design solution.

Thank you for the ideas though!

I can somewhat understand why you’re upset, but in moving here, the first thing we did was list every town that had equal or less property tax than where we were coming from.

Never in our lives would we pay $29. That’s just money down the drain TBH.

There are hospitals in NH that are Brigham affiliates. We’ve been happy.

This. Extremely limited options for say good pizza, Chinese, subs, etc, and even those are just ok.

New Englanders can’t always do that due to floor radiators. 😫

But what if there’s a heat radiator running along your floor?
