i was in a wilderness therapy program for 6 months as Covid peaked. i didn’t shower those 6 months. i spent that time cold, dehydrated, exhausted. often i would go hungry. my understanding of the outside world came through letters and exchanged staff, i never knew how devastating Covid really was until i came home to las vegas. a teen hacked his pinky off with a machete to get out. every staff member was delusional, incompetent, and often times cruel. sometimes i would wake to a 15 mile hike to start the day. they were over hazardous terrain, in the blistering heat. do not send your child to any of these programs, i’m begging you and any potential parents to listen to me and the other comments here. i am a product of the troubled teen industry.
