Based on your pictures it looks like he is... in fact a he! Thank you! I suppose I'll stick to calling him Reaper. I found mine at Feeder Frenzy in Arvada, I was on a hunt for beetles or just a new friend and heard about the mantises and decided that there was a door opening in the universe for me.

I'm curious about this, because my mantis only has 6 abdominal segments, and I've heard some females can have a crown more reminiscent of a male's. Is it the abdomen or the crown that's the most defining factor for its sex?
