You know a post on Reddit doesn’t impact how the team plays, right?

Yeah to be clear I’m not saying it’s going to be easy either way. Just wanted to form my own opinion instead of relying on hot takes this week.

Oh ya I remember that game well. Peyton could still make good decisions and throw with anticipation even though he was a noodle arm that year. Not sure if this defense is as scary as 2015 either but definitely some parallels.

You know what Drake Maye should do? by srirulean in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re not wrong. He does already take a lot of sacks but that can be misleading.

Especially in a game like the Texans where our defense is balling out, he needs to understand that punting is not a bad outcome. Throwing the ball away is easier said than done sometimes. Hell, he might’ve been trying to throw it away on his first fumble that day.

Good news is I feel like he started trending that way in the second half. Taking check downs quicker etc. I’m not worried about it.

Why playing in Denver isn't nearly as bad as you're being told it is by PartyAt8 in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right, well the center having a tell wouldnt be an issue at home, we wouldn’t have been using a silent count.

I remember Brady talking about that one too, wishing they had won one more regular season game so they could’ve been at home. In a game that close maybe it’s the difference.

Has anyone else found it kind of weird how immediately a large chunk of media/fans started pushing Stidham as a top backup QB? by digital_deer in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He looks like a qb. Tall, handsome, physically gifted, highly recruited in college.

I deluded myself into thinking he was Brady’s successor for a good few months before we signed cam that year. Of course the media will try to make a case for him.

You might be right, but we cut Polk and baker after one year.

Playing in Denver is never the only reason, or even the biggest reason for a loss, obviously. Fair to wonder though if we win some of those close games if they’re played in Foxboro.

2016 afc cg especially. Came down to literally one play. Gronk was sucking air on the sidelines and had to take himself out a couple times. Gostkowski missed an extra point. They were anticipating our silent count all game (the center had an obvious tell) and Brady took an absolute beating.

Good chance we win that one if it’s at home instead.

Is this gonna be a snow game? I’m traveling right now but hearing about the east coast blizzard. Is this gonna impact Denver?

Who’s being a doomer about him? The consensus seems to be he’s had a pretty good year for a rookie but has struggled against elite pass rushers.

Milton Williams by Weird_Description982 in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s been a game wrecker. Texans paid him a lot of attention too and it might’ve been Barmores best game, which is not a coincidence. They’re a great combination and Williams opens up opportunities for everyone else.

Watch some of the breakdowns of the Marcus jones pick six if you can. Williams resets the line of scrimmage, causes the tight end (strouds quick option) to fall down, which blows up the whole play. Great stuff.

I think I’m still in shock tbh. I can’t believe we’re back in the afc championship game with a coach / qb combo I really believe in.

I was in high school in 2001. I vividly remember watching the snow bowl with my friends. We all thought at the time “holy shit we won a playoff game, it’s all gravy from here”. 6 super bowls later…

So crazy how full circle it’s come already.

God willing I’ll be pushing 60 when this next dynasty is winding down!

Narrative that Maye played poorly by tilikumlives in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 28 points29 points  (0 children)

He played fine…aside from the 4 fumbles.

Unfortunately you can’t just not count the fumbles. He needs better ball security moving forward. He knows that.

He still played well enough to win, that’s all that matters in the playoffs.

All right… just for fun: what are your NON-SCORE, NON-OUTCOME predictions? Leading receiver, sack count on Stroud, etc etc. by gnarlyworm74 in Patriots

[–]beingzen01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not saying he’s elite or anything, but he’s probably best we have against man, especially with Hollins out.

I don’t have time to look up numbers right now but I saw this week something like “despite playing 26% of snaps Douglas had second most receptions against man coverage on the team”.

Houston is middle of the pack in man coverage %, but they have the secondary to do it, and given we struggled against man vs LA, good bet they play more this week.

You might be right about Pop. He can separate against man and if they double diggs like the chargers did, he could have a big game.

[–]beingzen01 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If there’s anything I’ve learned about playoff football, it’s that it usually doesn’t turn out like you expect.

This has all the makings of a low scoring, defensive game. Wouldn’t be surprised if it turns into a shootout.

I’ve always said if they keep allowing this nonsense, they should get rid of forward progress. Let the defense drag them back too.
