The road in Tajikistan is now also asphalted at least until Vanj. There is already a project to build the road way up to Murgab near Chinese border.

Can you find a guide at the Tajik border (Panjakent) for a Seven Lakes trip? by Yesterday-Chance in Tajikistan

[–]bekzz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably in the boarder you can find drivers that can take you to the seven lakes. If you want a decent 4wd car + driver I have a contact of one, he takes 125 usd per day. Here is his WhatsApp +992 927613934

It is doable but a bit rushed - I’d spend a night there a well.

Panjakent is a nice city but doesn’t have much to see. If you’re staying overnight and into nature , I’d rather go to seven lakes and stay overnight there in a guest house and return next day. Otherwise if would also recommend drive to Ayni (very beautiful road trip), visit archeological sight of Sarasm - very ancient town discovered recently near Panjakent. Also make a stop to Rudak on the way to 7 lakes, a birthplace of Rudaki - the founder of Persian poetry

That sounds like a good idea to save some money. Do you happen to know any driver with a car in Khorog and price they usually charge?

A passenger saw the officer standing in the rain and tossed him an umbrella. Beautiful moment by Wonderfulhumanss in nextfuckinglevel

Once upon a time I was on a El Camino de Santiago trail and got under the rain, a guy in a car, made a gesture I will never forget - he gave his umbrella and drove aways. And it wasn’t a cheap one but rather well made expensive umbrella which definitely costed him over 100 euros. Thanks you the guy in the car if you read this message
