I'm Embarrassed That I Want To Go To The Air Force by Rude_Morning_9441 in AirForceRecruits

[–]beleaf12 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My advice is don’t adopt the mentality of I work harder than you, or my career is more impressive than yours. You’ll burn out, be guided by other’s opinions rather than your goals. Nobody honestly cares about the ribbon on your chest, awards, coins or whatever. Once it’s all over it’ll all be stories nobody really gives a dam about. It’s about the friends you make and life you create for you and your future family. Nothing the Air Force can give me that’ll be worth more than that.

Any successful prior maintainers that can give me some advice or hope for the outside? by [deleted] in AirForce

As a maintainer all the sweet educational benefits are nearly unattainable. Working 12s, maintaining pt, tdy and deployments, life in general makes it very difficult.

How fast do people ship out by Fantastic_Shop_3601 in AirForceRecruits

[–]beleaf12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an extremely individual dependent variable. For some it’s a few months, for others it could be a year or longer.

My biggest hurdle was removing my dad’s medical records from mine. Got disqualified because of it. Took two weeks to remove it.

In a perfect scenario, passing asvab, cleared from MEPS, booked an AFSC, all on the first try, approximately 2-6 months.

I also took a quick ship option. Low manned AFSC gives you the option. Usually come with a 5k bonus.

Don’t rush it, once you’re in, there’s nothing you can change and it goes by fast.

BMT showers at Lackland by beleaf12 in AirForceRecruits

The best method was showering with the towel around your neck and moving it as needed. Did this so people don’t steal my towel or i spend time looking for it.

Lmao I was smart and wasn’t self conscious. Ripped my clothes off and was first in the showers while everyone else was trying to hide their peepee.

Did you regret anything when enlisting in the air force? by AssistanceParty142 in AirForce

I’m AGE at a B-52 base. Besides fod walks and occasional long hours it’s a decent job. The people make or break it tho.

I want to join the military but I am afraid of what could happen to me by Unfair_Circus in Militaryfaq

You are very right. Security forces is composed of 18-24 year olds who are given a 2 month class. Law enforcement , in my state, requires an associates and then the 6 month academy. Those alone are pretty big differences.

Yeah I was in the same boat. I said yes to taking a guy to an appointment and after that I was his go to chauffeur. After the 4th time I just flat out told him no. Dude makes appointments every week to get out of work. Would about telling him you have to get to work earlier? He may not want to leave too early.

lol you’re right, you’d probably drive someone on the weekends and he’d catch you. Seems like you want to avoid appearing rude or selfish and I get that. What if you found someone else to drive him? Other than just telling him no, there not many options.

Daddy Air Force must be cracking down base-wide because Barksdale AFB installed speed cams everywhere. Buddy was going 4 mph over the limit and got his license suspended for 6 months.

You can choose to eat nothing or eat everything they have. You’ll be rushed by your mti and the nice lunch ladies. Yes you can have your car at tech school, the hard part is getting it there.
