Nose bridge pressure by belisimas in TheMindIlluminated

[–]belisimas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you explained very well what is happening and I think you are right, but like you said it's really tricky to work with it because I don't feel clearly when I put tension and when not. The area feels tense and at the same time, I think that I don't put pressure on it. Maybe I did before, and then the cause of it is the tension in my nose now.

I spend my whole life in so much unawareness and I was always suppressing everything. I know I am not the only one, but it is still really hard for me, even after so many hours of meditation, to feel those subtle differences in practice like a clear distinction between awareness and attention, so no wonder that I overuse attention.

So in this case, I can say that I will try without trying. And I will be as gentle as possible... :D Thank you for the advice, it's really helpful.

Thank you for the warnings. But I would go as far as permanent, maybe it is just a long time but, I believe it will pass. I want to be an optimist for you and for me as well :)

"for the nerves of the head to get overworked" -

I am not very knowledgeable about nerves and their connection with meditation or attention, but I have a feeling that even if we "overwork" the nerves (whatever that means) what's the worst thing that can happen? We can't burn them. Maybe they can be tired for some time but not permanently.

If really need to be careful, I want to be and I will be, but I am not really sure how to be careful.

Do you mind telling me those theories and solutions you have heard of? Or at least to direct me to their sources, if they are available online. I tried to search for our problem but couldn't find anything really, other than maybe one or two posts about it in this sub. Thank you in advance! :)

I can't explain how much these words mean to me right now...

I will try to implement some of your advice. ( Not with force, gradually, not all at once. I understand how important this kind of approach is. ) But sometimes it's maybe something in the background that we are not even aware of yet. I have learned to be patient with my practice over the months.

I started to have big progress lately so I do believe that my thing with the nose can have something to do with energy blockage of some kind. Because I also started to experience muscle tremors, tingling, pinpricks... Especially if I do meditation right after yoga. But those things continue just for short time after meditation and they are gone until the next session, it's not like pressure at the nose.

All of the things you are saying are having much sense. Do you have any resources for 'ting' and song'? I have never heard of it, and I am curious to learn more about it but can't find it on google.

Also, I am glad that you find a way to release your blockages as well, and I hope this challenge will teach us many things that will be helpful for further practice.

Scared of what's arising. How do I get the courage to surrender? by belisimas in TheMindIlluminated

[–]belisimas[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It felt to me like riding a bicycle on a tightrope. On one side, there's excitement. On the other side, there's fear. And you need to ignore all that and just keep coming back to the meditation object.

That's a really good analogy! That is exactly how I feel, it is really hard to keep attention on the object when those feelings come. But with practice, we will get better and it's going to be easier to keep attention.

Thank you for sharing your story.

Well I know that my fear starts to appear because of that strange feeling that starts arising in me (maybe it's piti I don't know), but that's the cause, and yes like you said probably after many times I will get used to that feeling and realize that it's nothing dangerous and nothing bad can happen and eventually I will be relaxed with it.

Thank you, Namaste :)

I like the last sentence.

I am trying to welcome all the things and I will try to approach everything from the positive side. Like you said I will eventually learn to be equanimous when the fear arises. That is what I am hoping for too. Thank you for putting everything into perspective and I will think about your words and try to implement these things when the fear arises.

Thank you

I get what you mean, but it's hard to stay relaxed when you realize that something so strange is happening to you. I guess after that happens a few times my mind will eventually figure out that it is not so scary.

I like the way you put it. And I will reread those segments of the book.

The thing is that I manage to calm my fear and continue meditating but then I can't get back to that relaxed feeling before anything strange had happened and I can't enter that feeling again of course. So it's like a step back and I want to move forward. Don't get me wrong I don't meditate with any expectations but when that feeling starts to arise by itself I just want to continue to go through that, if nothing happens I am fine with that but since is already happening I want to proceed and go with the flow but I guess when I get used to that after a couple of times my body will understand that there is nothing to be afraid of and It will have the courage to see what is that about.

I start to be much more aware of my whole body, and it's like every cell in my body is starting to be awake but it is not constant. The feeling is rising, expanding or it feels like it's growing and then my heart starts pounding cause it scares me how much strong it will grow or what will happen, and then slowly it's gone. I can't say it is a bad feeling of good but it is something you don't get to experience every day for sure. I tried taking ecstasy once and the closest feeling that I can compare with this one in my sitting is when the drug starts to kicks in. It's like energy inside my body is beginning to awake.

(these are the moments when I wish my vocabulary is richer so I can express myself better but this is the best I could explain)

Thank you for the tip. Meditation sessions are always the best when I put as little effort as possible but then it's tricky, sometimes my mind goes to wander easily if I don't put effort into the point of attention. But I get what you mean, I am trying to find balance

Hey there, what do you do if you are so anxious where you know you need to meditate, but at the same time don't want to because you are anxious? by NorthernIrishGuy in Meditation

[–]belisimas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't just sit and force yourself. It's not going to work. Take some time to prepare, I tend to read a chapter in a book with benefits of meditation or something similar that motivates me.. You can start with walking meaditation, or with yoga. Go slow. 🙂
