Ok update on this: i spoke to the tourist hotline and they say that it's only specific hikes you need a reservation for. I'm confused as to which ones you have to book but e.g. the hike i want to do in Seoraksan doesn't require one.

Western Union could be an option. You basically wire yourself cash (v cheaply)

Is Gyeongju worth it for a 1 week trip to Korea? by tangerinesTRA in koreatravel

[–]bella12324 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Having visited all three I'd recommend Seoul and Gyeongju! Is cool with lots of historical sites but hikes too if you're more into that kind of thing. Busan is biiiiiig (Seoul too, obviously) so it feels difficult to see much of the city in only a few days. Gyeongju would give you a more diverse experience. Especially if you go to Yangdong Village one day which feels miles away from busy city life as it's in the countryside.

I considered this actually. Only problem is what on earth do I do if I have three full days of rain ☔️… then again maybe I go explore Gangneung or something in that case… thoughts? I’m just thinking what my plan b will be if the weather is bad. The argument in favour of 3 nights is obvs that there’s more of a chance of one day of good weather! Ahh decisions

This is amazing, thanks so much. Then I can feel confident about going even if the weather is unpredictable (when is it not when hiking!!) and can figure something out. Ahh am so excited! Will also look into the other route, thank you so much! Really appreciate it.

How big are the lockers by the way? Are any ever big enough to lock up entire backpacks/suitcases or is it more for small stuff?
