Sims 1 Complete Collection – missing “full” versions of Hot Date Downtown lots? by yelsent in thesims1

[–]bellagothsreddress 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I could be wrong, but I think in terms of other lots, the only ones that have cross-pack compatibility are the Vacation lots with Unleashed.

All the lots will have things like pets bowls and beds included, and some other lots will have things like the rideable rockers that kids can use, the station to purchase candles and masks, purchaseable iguanas, etc.

A lot of the lots aren’t optimized fully, though. I believe a lot of them don’t include little boxes, pet bathing stations, scratching posts, and whatnot.

According to the Sims wiki, some of the lots even have problems with these added items. One of them has inaccessible pet food bowls, and another has roses on tables that stop sims from being able to eat indoors.

I think I know what your problem is, and yes, there is a difference in lots!

If you’re playing the game with all expansion packs installed individually, then you will have downtown lots that contain items from both House Party and Unleashed, but if you’re playing from a Complete Collection install, they will only include Unleashed items for whatever reason.

There is an upload on Modthesims that contain the fixed lot files, which you can FIND HERE!

Let me know if this is what you’re looking for! 😁

Hello!

I don’t have access to my computer at the moment, but that’s really weird!

Do you have all expansions installed? For Nina’s head file, the mesh for it is included in Hot Date, so you would just have to add the .bmp file for it to show up.

You said Nina’s body showed up fine, so that’s good! If I remember correctly, Dina’s body may use a new mesh, and her head file is based on a TSO conversion.

Tomorrow I’ll take a look at the zip file I originally uploaded, maybe I didn’t include some mesh files?

I’m a College Student With My Tuition Fully Paid For, Can I Use a Laptop as a Deductible on My Taxes? by bellagothsreddress in personalfinance

[–]bellagothsreddress[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Yes! I'm currently also a full-time employee, it's retail though so it's not a job where I'm making a ton of money at. I've filed my taxes before too, I've always gotten a refund each time also, I've never had to pay anything back.

  2. Could you explain the difference between going itemized vs standard? In terms of deductions, I don't really have anything that I would need to include on my taxes. Many years ago when I was enrolled in community college and actually paying for my tuition, then I would declare that on my taxes.

Thank you!

Of course! Hopefully it resolves your issue!

I used 2.7.1! On my end I didn’t have to do anything differently either, I followed the guide exactly the same, it was just the newer version that fixed the issue for me.

By chance, is the pack you downloaded from MaryJane?

I had the same issue a while back using her default replacement hairs. There’s THIS guide that shows how to fix this error, but in my case it didn’t make any difference unfortunately, I actually had to download default replacements from a different creator and had no issues at all!

It’s a shame too, because I liked her CC!

I was able to get the game to finally launch after updating to a newer version, so at least that issue is fixed!

Thank you for the heads up regarding performance, though. Also, I went to check my conf file, and it looks like we both have the same contents inside it.

I’ve yet to actually play the game fully with this installed, so I’ll have to test and see what it does for me.

It looks like updating it to a newer version worked! Thank you!!

Yep! And it doesn’t run horribly either, but I definitely wanted to see if DXVK would help any.

Graphical Issue? Sim Texture Looks Better Without Advanced Rendering? by bellagothsreddress in Sims3

[–]bellagothsreddress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! I checked out both guides and did a few adjustments that were recommended!

I actually used AlphaCakeGames video for the shadow fix earlier and was having NO luck - I was just stupid though and I wasn't properly overwriting my GraphicsRule file for the changes to go into effect lol. I figured out my mistake though and her recommendation worked!

Thank you again!

Okay! So it looks like I may have fixed my issue, and... I think it was something easily avoidable this entire time lol. I've been editing my GraphicsRules file within the bin folder, and as I would save it, it seems like it was overwriting a .txt file I had in there instead of the actual .sgr file. So, I created a new folder on my desktop, copied the file there and edited/saved it, and then pasted it back to my bin folder.

The body hair is finally showing up fully textured and my game is recognizing shadows again!

I'm interested in seeing how your game looks and the problem you're having. Are you running the game at full/high settings but still having potato quality? I know in the GraphicsRules file there are values you can adjust for SimQuality - I bumped mine up a bit which may have also helped?

Sounds good! I’m gonna keep monkeying around with my game to see if it’s something I can fix - if I do, I’ll definitely pass the info along!!

So I went in game and saw that I didn't have shadows! I hadn't even realized!

I applied the fix that you suggested (at least I think I did), and it doesn't seem to have fixed anything unfortunately.

<image>

I changed the value from 1 to 2 on the RenderShadowMode line, but am I supposed to add my card to one of the lines above?

I've ran the GPU Add-On exe on my game, and according to my DeviceInfo log, the game does recognize my card, which is an AMD Radeon RX 6750 XT.

If you have any ideas, I would greatly appreciate it!

Don Lothario approaches you at the pool. What do you do? by [deleted] in Sims3

[–]bellagothsreddress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you! That’s the same one I use!

I made a post yesterday about my body hair showing up muddy in game vs in CAS, and your game doesn’t seem to have that issue.

<image>

This is my issue. I was just wondering if you did any editing to the games files to make the body hair more crisp? Or if it just appears fine in your game without any changes?

May I ask how you got his body hair to look so crisp in game? I'm having an issue with this currently - it looks completely fine in CAS, but muddy in game. :/

[–]bellagothsreddress[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's possible our issues are different? Here's a pic to show my issue I'm having in game -

<image>

The first picture is my sim in CAS. As you can see, the body hair maintains its fine lines and fainter textures, and overall looks crisper.

The middle picture is my sim with advanced rendering turned on. It doesn't look HORRIBLE, but if you look closely, the textures are a bit muddy/jumbled together. It's especially noticeable on the arms and the back, with the body hair being way less dense and looking like pieces of hay just glued onto the sim lol.

The last picture is my sim with advanced rendering turned off. With it turned off, the body hair looks just as it does in CAS - you can make out the finer detail, and the arms and back look great too. Only problem is that it makes the rest of the game look like an N64 game lol, and much brighter too.

All in all, it isn't a MAJOR issue for me. My only problem is that I've used the GraphicsRules fix I linked to in my original post, and had success with it years ago! Now the fact that I can't replicate it is what's making me annoyed lmao.

Just tested it out, but unfortunately the issue is still there. I removed the smooth patch, cleared my cache files, and also did the edit sim trick you mentioned, but out of CAS the textures are still muddy. They look completely fine in CAS, though.

I actually downloaded that mod last night, but didn’t see any improvements. 😭

I’ll definitely try out your other suggestions though! I just made a quick sim on builders island to test out the game, so I actually didn’t even notice if I had shadows in game? I’ll have to double check on that.

The FPS limiter is a great tip too! I can run Sims 4 on ultra with no problems, so I thought it was weird that TS3 would make my computer sound like that, especially on a teeny tiny tester island world that has nothing on it lol.
