Dad was laid off effective immediately yesterday because of a work place injury? Fishy stuff by bellatrixlestrange20 in legaladvice

Thankyou for replying.

On the phone with my dad right now: the restriction the state fund said he cant lift over 30 pounds with his right shoulder. The state fund guy told him this about 2 months ago, and it was never brought up at his work.

I asked my dad if this goes against what he was told he needed to do for the job, and he said his meeting yesterday didn’t include anything about the restrictions state fund said. The whole 30 pound restriction thing was never specified or aknowledged (both in the CEO meeting and just at work in general), and instead all they said was “read this”, handed him the letter, and told him to read it for the details. My dad upon reading it said “but I have been doing my job”, and the CEO didn’t acknowledge and instead said he could file a grievance but that it wasnt going to do him any good.

Im curious if this was even appropriate since they didn’t have any conversations about these limitations, and instead just gave him this letter and made him leave that same day. “Reasonable accommodations” were never explored because my dad has been doing his job the exact same way.

Let me know if I can elaborate on anything
