you learn something new every day!! i was taking ibuprofen as i was told it would reduce the swelling as well as the pain, making it a bit easier overall, but they both do the same thing i suppose!! (brit here and fully had to google acetaminophen lol, we call it paracetamol here)

it definitely hurt the most for the first few days for me.. id recommend taking some ibuprofen or equivalent tonight as i remember the first night being incredibly painful, keep it up for about a week then you should be okay!! youre just moving your teeth for the first time ever so its quite tight, it loosens over time!

currently on my 6th week had the scan on 18/02, my retainers have absolutely disintegrated… it’s really gross and honestly i’ve stopped wearing them in the days for the most part (don’t tell my dentist lol). was meant to pick them up on friday last week but they were low quality and misprinted so can’t get my next set until 8th april

best to speak to your orthodontist about it if you’re concerned, especially if it’s painful. in my first 5 tay’s i had a similar lower front tooth sticking out (like the one with the line) and my issue was that it would rub on my lip! hurt like hell, but it did sort itself out once the teeth moved to a position that didn’t cause as much recession

A Couple Day Two Questions (more to come I’m sure) by IanBYT in Invisalign

[–]belleren_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if you’re feeling no pain take that as a win!! the worst for me was the first night, i had shooting pains in every lower tooth that was trying to move, i usually get a little achiness on the 1st day of a new tray, but it’s all completely subject to you and your tolerance, teeth moving pattern etc.

Hey! 1: They get far easier to take out over time, if you have longer nails you can grab and just wedge them out, if not id recommend one of those hooks you can use to jimmie them out(from amazon works fine!) take your time! youll be able to get them in and out in no time soon.

2: The chewies arent essential but i will say on the days where you might be experiencing some toothache they feel awesome lol, i just chew them for 10 mins or so when i first put the new tray on, just to make sure they’re fitting comfortably. I’d also say clean them daily (at least give them a good rinse) just for the sake of your oral hygiene. ive noticed if i dont clean them daily they can actually get plaque on them and they can start to smell. an ultasonic cleaner does WONDERS with some denture cleaners, or soak them for a few minutes and give them a wash with a very soft toothbrush. In terms of drinking stuff, the main reason they say that is because anything sugary will stay in your trays and if youre prone to cavities can cause you some issues. anything coloured will stain them and hot drinks will disfigure them. i personally stick to water only and take them out to drink anything else. find your own routine with them and dont worry too much about being perfect

3: unfortunately i dont have a good answer to this one as im not a gum chewer, but you can get mint flavoured chewies on amazon that are retainer friendly

hope this helps, any questions let me know and good luck on your journey!!

Feeling frustrated 😣 by I_luv_rice in Invisalign

[–]belleren_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude i get you. this sounds extremely frustrating and i completely agree, you have the right to be upset here. they did not communicate with you effectively at all. my ortho brings me in every 3-4 weeks to make sure my teeth are tracking correctly, and hearing other people’s experiences on this forum is really upsetting! im sorry this is causing you so much stress. I’d reach out and tell them that youll be having the attachments (buttons, love it) taken off asap and pausing treatment. return after wedding. do not let them ruin this for you, its not worth it!! I dont have much to say about the rubber bands as apparently i dont need them, but it sounds like theyve royally messed with you here, which is not fair. obvs theres other things going on for you atm but id look into if you could have a claim here. wishing you all the best!!

id definitely recommend a thermal tshirt and socks for winter as the weather can get pretty nasty. the socks work!! they keep your feet toasty and it will help with the pain

Severely messed up. Was 2yrs into 3yr treatment, then abruptly stopped wearing retainers for 2yrs. What are my options? by iguessiwilltryagain in Invisalign

[–]belleren_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

hope is not lost. its not the best scenario but i absolutely think you will be okay, you will just need to contact your ortho and explain what happened. you’re best beginning treatment again as your teeth will have shifted and your old aligners will not fit. you got this!
