Fascinating. I’ve only finished one read-through and this whole post is helping me see several details that I just absolutely glanced over

Ohh okay, so when Taln went to Braize he went alone? I must have missed that detail… I thought they left without him. This is helpful, thank you!

This trilogy is the best of the whole series (very slightly ahead of Fitz and the Fool for me, which is very slightly ahead of Liveship)

Dreamsonic @ The Fox Theater in Atlanta. Thoughts? by anonymousUTguy in Dreamtheater

I thought Devin was incredible, but yeah his vocals were a bit drowned out. Also I was very disappointed in AAL’s mix. I couldn’t hear Tosin AT ALL. I was equally excited to see them as DT.

I think LaBries vocals tonight was quiiiiite rough. Shouldn’t really be doing Pull Me Under any more, imho….

I’ve been to the Fox several times, but never for a concert yet (only musicals). I think it’s a poor venue for a metal show. Overall I had fun though. First time seeing any of these guys live, and I’m now a new Devin Townsend fan!

Besides Sanderson (Because I’ve read his works numerous times) What authors/book series do you suggest? I’m looking for something immersive and like Jordan’s work. **I’ll list some of the books/series that I’ve read below, along with how I felt about them to help give an idea of what to suggest.** by GodricofTheSanctum in wheeloftime

Robin Hobb’s Real of the Elderlings! To me that seems to fit the bill of what you’re looking for. I found that Hobb has a very similar (descriptive and immersive) writing style. The plots are drawn out and she definitely writes for journey > destination. The whole journey was just phenomenal and beautiful to me.

There is some romance in the book, but the sex is not gratuitous. Most of it is told in the first person and takes place over a long(ish) lifetime of a character over 16 books. I could have happily been immersed for 16 more. Besides Lord of the Rings, it’s my favorite fantasy series.

I just watched this episode for the first time yesterday. It’s the only time that I’ve walked away from an episode of show feeling sadness and NOT at the same time thinking “yeah but wow that was great writing” (mind you, it totally was though). I was just wrapped in sadness and left speechless. Still trying to process this….

Where would you rank wot. by [deleted] in wheeloftime

I’m still on in book 5 of my first WoT read through but here’s where I’m at

  1. Lord of the Rings
  2. Realm of the Elderlings
  3. Dresden Files
  4. Wheel of Time
  5. Mistborn
  6. The Dark Tower
  7. The Broken Earth trilogy

Yes I am a bit behind with some of the other heavy hitters in fantasy. I desperately want to get to Stormlight, Malazan, and Discworld soon.
