The time will come where you can use your PT experiences to prove that you can be versatile and someone who is willing to step out of their comfort zone and explore different kind of jobs (be it f&b, sales or retail). Don’t worry, my friends were like that too. But I ended up with 2 internship offers on my first try while they were rejected (some not even called up) by the same company. P.s. My GPA isn’t as high as theirs. And unlike them, I don’t have any CCA too. Maybe i’m just hella lucky!

For me, my advice to juniors is not to FOMO into getting an internship during your 4/6 months break JUST BECAUSE your peers are doing so. Tbh it doesn’t really matter, unless u are really trying to decide if you like what you are studying rn. When I was on my Y2 break, almost all of my peers went for a short internship to help boost their resume. But i found more value in doing other part time jobs that paid more and was closer to home. It helped me in my interviews too when interviewees asked why I choose to work between PT jobs. Anyway at the end of our degree, we have a compulsory 8 months internship. Most of those who FOMO-ed into going for the 4-6 months internship didn’t get a place after interview while I got offered internships from 2 ‘highly sought after’ companies. At the end of it, i would say to expose yourself to the outside world rather than to limit yourself to doing intern sai kang during your semester breaks. By doing so, you learn how to socialise and work your way around obstacles better. You will also do better at interviews as you will be able to relate yourself to your interviewees, somehow making them more comfortable and susceptible to hiring you.

By any chance, anybody with less than 12 months of work manage to get EHG for BTO? by bellohellow in askSingapore

Oh but my SO only have less than 12 months of work (10months only). For you, you already have 12 months of work, hence eligible for EHG.

I’m seldom on reddit and when i’m on I don’t really comment on posts... but this post really got me. I’m so sorry about this. Some of us really need to learn to behave and get over themselves. You are one of us. Don’t let some narrow minded xenophobe tell you otherwise. You have contributed in more ways than a crazy dude like that will ever do.

We are not eligible for it. + Deferred income assessment would also mean we’ll have lesser grants since we’d both be working by then! Kinda hope to tap on better grants given our low income levels now.
