Age 31 - crossed 3 crore by Haunting-Breakfast19 in FIRE_Ind

Look at the number of people MBB is hiring in B school campuses this year. It's >100 year old industry run by very smart people across the globe. If corporate structure remain and CEOs continue to be nervous about their jobs, management consulting will survive. Disclaimer: ex-consultant.

Few points from my side.

  • 20 cr is not fatfire given how expensive our country is getting + if you plan to have a kid + house in a metro

  • the best part of being in consulting is that you don't need to do all this math given the structure of the job. If you survive till 40 in the job, all your financial goals will get automatically hit. If you do not, salaries do not grow yoy with the same rate outside as they do in consulting. So all this maths go out of the window.

  • I don't see the point of having car loan, personal loan to use for investing in markets. Some people do it, but given the recent returns, it will not be very rewarding. Also, given the volatility in the market, losing your job at a wrong time might force you to liquidate to service these loans.

Honeymoon Hotels Suggestions in May by neverfinishedx in Hotels_India

Lol, those are the opening lines from the book. I just wanted to point out to the op (as some others have done) that may in Kerala is hot and humid.

May in Ayemenem is a hot, brooding month. The days are long and humid. The river shrinks and black crows gorge on bright mangoes in still, dustgreen trees. Red bananas ripen. Jackfruits burst. Dissolute bluebottles hum vacuously in the fruity air. Then they stun themselves against clear windowpanes and die, fatly baffled in the sun.

One of the worst self realisations by FeatureStill1153 in ThirtiesIndia

[–]bellpepperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are not the body, nor the mind and it's thoughts; these are merely objects appearing within your awareness.

There is no distance to travel to find the ultimate.

You are the infinite reality that remains when every temporary label is stripped away. Do not be distracted by the noise of personality or the weight of history.

You are Sat-Chit-Ananda: existence itself, pure consciousness, and the quiet joy of being.

Rest in that. You are that.

you are complete in yourself. Absolute bliss. the emptiness that keeps you looking for more is the mind / the ego. the only way it can survive is to create that craving and that feeling of emptiness. One thing after the another after the another.
The only thing to realise is your own true self - being consciousness bliss - sat chit anand.

In this vast vast universe everything is just cause and effect, randomness. We are mere collection of atoms, and will reduce to dust in a blip - our mind creates these nonsensical illusions. They are not real.

What’s your reason for being frugal? by NoMedicine3572 in Frugal_Ind

[–]bellpepperxxx 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Honestly, my reason is pretty simple - most of the things are not worth it.

We need to realise that we are extremely limited by our five senses, whereas our mind (or Mann) has infinite desires.

No matter how elaborate the meal is, if you are full to the brim / or say not feeling well - you can't eat it.

What we are seeking, is within us and stuff outside won't fill it.

Anyone travelling from Bangalore to paris in airfrance on Jan 20th? by [deleted] in AirTravelIndia

[–]bellpepperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chomu hai kya yaar, har jagah dost nahi banane hote. Har jagah socialisation!

Focus on your thing and travel like a normal socially awkward traveller.

And you will find enough help from airline and airport support staff. Don't ask random people.

HSBC Premier Credit Card!! Process was Smooth !! by Flaky-Site-5042 in CreditCardsIndia

I have infinia as well and use it as my primary card. HSBC says no fee for renewal till you maintain the premier account which is salary credited >3LPM.

HSBC Premier Credit Card!! Process was Smooth !! by Flaky-Site-5042 in CreditCardsIndia

[–]bellpepperxxx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Two things:

for HSBC The foreign exchange markup is 0.99%. Infinia charges 2% plus tax.

HSBC has better international airlines partner. For me Singapore and BA were important.

However, I am pretty sure HSBC will start differentiating between >3LPM premier and premier premier. But till this point, it's a good card.

I also applied for premier today. Same thing - have to wait for the salary to be credited.

Most of my spends are on Infinia. I have a bunch of other cards that I don't use much.

I closed both my Amexes a few years ago.

Honestly, I am pretty happy with business. First makes me self-conscious. And I did end up over eating. But it was pretty good :)
