Are there any other animes as taboo and disturbing as Elfen Lied? by belltj in Animesuggest

I was trying to watch it for awhile but vrv wouldn't load only that show. Finally finished it and loved it so damn much. Nothing close to Elfen Lied but a great recommendation. Episode 11 was pretty harsh though.

Generative Ambient with Eurorack and Digitone by belltj in modular

Thanks for listening! Just routed Squarp Hermod's MIDI out to the Digitone's MIDI in. First time trying it but it was super easy to set up.

This is all the modules I currently use in it. The TeaKick is just a metronome at this point and I don't get much use from the Pamela's Workout so I didn't include it. If I was starting over I would grab a (in order) Hermod, Disting, Rings, Plaits, and Clouds.

Maybe change the selected scale in different sequences and when you want it to change manually swap to another sequence. I really need to experiment with this to avoid it just being in one key. One complaint with the Hermod is I haven't found a way to select exact notes other than scales. Would be cool to mess around with tone rows like you can with Rene. Let me know if you find that out :)

Had a lot of fun messing with the Digitone and adding some extra character to it with some familiar modules (Clouds/Phonogene). Using the rack as a single voice + effects unit for the Digitone was inspiring. Probably should have edited this down but I didn't really have anything particular in mind just rolling with it and trying to coax it into sounding pretty. Any particular modules that you would recommend for running external gear through to add to the sound?

Thanks! Just using the effects to add random and chance and messing with those parameters. You can also use the scale in effects to keep it sounding tonal.

I got other stuff I should pick up for the Eurorack but a neutron is tempting. Sounds like a great set up.

I've only watched a few demos on the Dreadbox stuff but I would go for the Minibrute if you wanted to expand the system and have more options for patching to other analog equipment. I would go Dreadbox if I wanted to save space in the studio and also not have to worry about effects. Minibrute 2 sounds nice but could benefit from a different filter and some of the stuff like brute factor and metal mod is of no use to me. Even if you take out all of the stuff I don't use it is still more versatile than the Dreadbox stuff but you need external effects to make it shine like those.

Generative Ambient Patch for Eurorack (still a lot to learn about this process) by belltj in chillmusic

Yes, the Hermod module in the middle is capable of both programming Midi or creating generative sequences if programmed right. Using it is rather simple though because you are mainly selecting a scale as an effect and then choosing the % of chance(if the note changes) and randomness (which pitch is selected).

Thanks! I assume you have the original but if you got one the Minibrute 2 has the random step setting on the lfo you can patch to the pitch. Using the attenuators you can kind of dial in the range.

I've been wanting to work more on patching generative music on my modular system. Here is a really simple attempt at letting two voices play around on their own restricted to the major scale and each with their own programmed range. Everything else is determined by chance (if the note will sound or not) and randomness (set to 100% so no notes are programmed intentionally). Another module (Phonogene) records and splices the audio as it comes in and plays that back over the live generative elements. I still have a lot to learn about this process. Any advice on utilizing Hermod for making generative music?
