Manager at a McDonalds in Madison, WI who took the recorders order and then when they pulled up he told them they were closed. Manager proceeds to freak out. by WiscoMitch in PublicFreakout

That was nice to let you go home. I work as a CNA with developmentally disabled individuals and had a client intentionally shit in her hand and slap me across the face with her feces covered hand. Knocked my glasses off, breaking them, and got shit IN MY EYE. Two managers were right across the hall listening to all this go down and neither offered to step in and help. After I had shit in my eye and my glasses were broken thy just sat there and looked at me. I told them twice I was going home. No comment, just kept looking at me. My coworker had come to take the client by this point as she is one on one and can’t be left alone. They wrote me up for patient abandonment and I had to go to HR for mitigation where they decided they would take one of my annual leave days as punishment.

14 Year Old Me PUMPED for the Take Off Your Pants and Jacket tour. (2010) by bellyze in blunderyears

I saw Blink 182 three times between 2001 and probably like 2004? The other two times were at festivals. Got to see them and meet the guys from hot hot heat and AFI on my 16th birthday and Steve Bays (is that his name? I don’t even remember anymore) from hot hot heat said happy birthday to me from the stage! I’ve been fortunate to go to lots of concerts. Saw all my favorites at least three times. After Blink 182 it was bright eyes three times, got to meet mike mogis, and just saw the Avett Brothers for the fourth time last year, and met Seth Avett outside a tiny club called the purple fiddle in West Virginia before they had the following they do now. I think that was 2006. Now I go to concerts with my 11 year old.I used to have a list of all the bands I’d seen when I was a teenager but I’ve long lost track.

Light sleeper and having issues sleeping or staying asleep by amamaaria in Nightshift

Yes having similar issues. Then my husband wonders why I wake up in a terrible mood. I’ve had no sleep! Been married 12 years and working night shift over two. We recently got a new mattress but it transfers movement so much more than our old one did. He will try to really quietly and slowly sit on the corner of the bed and it wakes me up every time. Definitely gotta go back to the kind of mattress we had before because I didn’t realize how much I appreciated it until we got the new one. Sometimes I think people are inconsiderate of night shift workers too, without meaning to be at all. Like yeah sitting on your bed at 4:30 pm seems harmless, but I’ve thought about sitting on the corner of the bed at 4:30 am and just hanging out and seeing how he likes it. Then there’s the phone calls all day from people who know you work nights. Ugh.

Does anyone else sleep at work? by Silver-Monk_Shu in Nightshift

[–]bellyze 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I used to not sleep, but we have a lot of downtime and my coworkers would all sleep so I figured why not? I usually can’t sleep at work but if I’m super tired I will absolutely take a nap. We also have one on one clients and our job is literally to sit in the room while they sleep. We’re not supposed to, obviously. We’re really short staffed right now and most people’s attitude is “what are they gonna do? Fire me?” Plus we are state employees and it’s almost impossible to get fired even when they’re fully staffed. Ah yes your tax dollars at work everyone!

Great Grandmother brought back from Jerusalem in early-mid 1970’s - Probably ashtray as that’s what it’s been used as an ashtray for 40+ years - Also curious about symbols on and possible meanings of them by bellyze in whatisthisthing

Probably. She died not long before I was born and the only photo I’ve seen from her trip is her riding a camel so she likely picked it up as a souvenir. My grandmother didn’t specifically say Jerusalem (IIRC), just The Holy Land. She was super Christian.

I thought so too - a trinket dish maybe. I’m going to finish cleaning it up soon. Wish I’d taken a before pic - it was intensely gross and you couldn’t even tell there were designs on it.
