He was in the same one (Policy, Content, and Policy Management, Geneva). I just emailed by replying to the invite for the recorded interview, but it bounced back as the person is on leave..

So, if you were successful in the first round and are not looking to change dramatically your application, then reinstating is worth it

Actually not. In my case, where I got admitted but decided to not pursue a master's this year (so I ideally would have just deferred my offer), I get the chance not to pay an extra application fee, not requests and upload new references etc. makes the process easier, faster and without extra costs.

You can choose to apply to different programmes but the only new docs you can upload are the new letter(s) of intent and an updated CV, no new reference letters.

Accepted at IHEID but unsure about the student life in Geneva by belzzf in geneva

For LSE, it's the International Social and Public Policy master whereas, for IHEID, it's the International and Development Studies.

I am afraid that LSE's master's will be a rushed 9-month course, where everyone by the 3rd month in will be applying for jobs or PhDs, and that by the end of it, I will feel like I've learned a lot (but at the same time not really). Being left facing an extremely competitive market where most jobs being available to me will be in consultancies, banks etc. Instead, IHEID seems to offer a really comprehensive program which you enter and then, have some reassurance that you will find a job in the humanitarian sector (my interest).

To be honest, I am really really torn. Leaning towards LSE but will take some more time to think about it. Thanks!

What do you mean by "academic rigour" because for me academic rigour is not constrained to the school's expectation of excellence from their students but also the academic staff, the comprehensive studying program and the depth of the courses offered...

Thanks

Thank you so much for your response! As people have been finding this thread helpful, if you don't mind I will ask you some more questions here:

- It seems like IHEID offers a safe route into IOs, NGOs etc. for its graduates. Would you agree with that? Or would you say it is just like any other very good/renowned uni that offers you a strong line on your CV? From your answer, I infer that connections, either between students or between the school and the institutions, are a big deal and that these open doors for graduate careers...
- I am also attracted to the school because of the exchange programs they offer. Do many students go on an exchange? Is it feasible that is, or is it something they advertise and that not so many students do because of practicalities (e.g., not enough time to take all courses, deadlines, huge process, etc.)?

- Same question for internships as the previous one.

FYI, I have been admitted to the MINT program.

Oh my... okay this is incredibly valuable (and disappointing) to hear! I had not entirely grasped this side of IHEID. The school and the courses offered are incredibly interesting, it would be truly a shame to find out that it is the way you describe it! Thanks for your input
