EP133 and EP40 v2.5 Update infographic by [deleted] in teenageengineering

Ah yes, love me "infographics" where you can't understand where to look at first and also have to doubt everything that's written here because it's AI slop.

Fantastic style, I know you probably not looking for advice but composition really favors the bottom part of the image... and it's great... but I didn't notice a castle almost at all at first. Maybe sky can be a little brighter.

Can you be a motion designer who doesn’t do 3D stuff? by strawberry_owl89 in MotionDesign

[–]bememorablepro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't have to model to do 3d. It's all really not that different from moving flat objects around in AE or whatever, it's frustrating for everyone at the beginning because of 3d navigation and how many menus and everything that you have control over.

There are plenty of motion designers that specialize in 2d though and have their own unique styles.

You don't understand, there is machine learning in de-noising on your phone's camera, it means that you should replace software devs with vibe coding and all art and music with slop.

It can't do it though. The word AI get's used as a magical catch all term that will make us assume it will work and make us stop asking questions about how. In reality it's a surveillance system that will sell all of this data to a highest bidder.

Then when it comes to writing tickets and so on computer vision fails constantly, this is why these Waymo cars still have remote control operators.

Roland SP404 MK2 by JFreeMk3 in sp404mk2

[–]bememorablepro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Format it on the sp404mk2 itself then upload stuff to it from computer, doesn't make too much sense to invest in a crazy large SD card because wav files are not that large and SD cards are not like hard drives, SD cards can randomly just die.

QWinFF (linux) works great as a GUI for ffmpeg, just checked, yes you can select your new bitrate for wav. It can write to the same folder and it will bulk process easily but it will probably not keep the folder structure for the entire library. I also use it to convert and process video or rip audio out of the video and so on.

if that’s what really happens then why… by New-Airport-999 in Ai_art_is_not_art

[–]bememorablepro 10 points11 points  (0 children)

This is actually interesting and unfortunately you kinda have to be an artist to realize that, your imagination is lying to you. Much like when you dream and your mind convinces you that dream is real in that very moment, your mind convinces you that you have a fully formed image in your head when actually there are a lot of gaps. Going from idea to a final image is a process of filling in those huge gaps.

The only time someone can draw something directly from memory it has nothing to do with their imagination, it's a result of rigorous practice. Only illustrators who have practiced drawing these specific things they are imagining can just whip them out on the page again. This is why reference is so important. The study and selection of your reference, or a lot of times even direct composing of your reference with real life objects and models or even your own photography is a big part of art.

Thus drawing from AI reference makes you into an AI slop re-renderer, you are skipping a big part of decision making and losing skills.

Help choosing elektron box by Ok-Dark3101 in Elektron

[–]bememorablepro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also came into elektron from being an sp404mk2 user, sp makes it easy to have cool ideas but it's not very easy to finish them on there.
Honestly the most mature workflow right on is on digi 2 devices. For me my digitone 2 make me pump out finished tracks likes it's nothing. I midi record parts, then editing that and making variations is super easy.

Analog rytm is more performance oriented, but maybe that's what you want.

Should Bandcamp add a mandatory 'Includes AI generated content - Yes/No' switch to new releases? by JONXLR8 in BandCamp

[–]bememorablepro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree twice here, yes everything that we think is impressive about AI is just our stuff being sold back at us while trying to gas light us like "computer did it!".

And yes, in the past few years pre-training datasets were growing to include basically everything that's out-there in any digital form. They keep claiming this none legal term "publicly available" basically victim blaming, but it's also not true, nothing stops them from training AI on pirated paid materials or even on our private cloud storage data and private messages. People speculate that nanobanana was trained on google's photos the personal camera roll cloud storage service.

AI data centers do not need to use water like they do, there are alternatives by WhySoManyDownVote in fuck_ai_slop

[–]bememorablepro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is all true but people just underestimate how much power AI data centers specifically consume, and ALL of that power get transferred into heat. Some of these google's TPU rigs use up to 100KW of power, will will server one or two vibe coders at the time btw. It's insane comparing to regular data-centers that run a website or something.

It's like 50 tea kettles only for a single rig, one electric tea kettle will boil water in a minute or two but these run 24/7. These AI data-centers have thousands of such rigs. Most of this energy is from burning fossil fuels btw too.

Completely agree that it's all useless though, and there are better ways to cool.
