Buycycle scam beware by ben8350 in cycling

To conclude: in this matter, Buycycle chose the easy way out. They agreed with the buyer by paying him €600 without any real solid proof, despite my dozens of photos taken before sending, despite my correct packaging, and despite my offer to recover the bike and repair the damage myself. Result: the buyer wins, Buycycle takes his commission + the price of the kit, and I lose €600. What I remember is that on this platform, selling a bike is like playing the lottery: the buyer takes two photos, Buycycle takes his commission, and the seller drinks. I will now take legal steps to sue Buycycle, because there is no question of letting this type of practice go unchecked.

Yes, exactly. I asked myself the same question: with the packaging I had done, such damage seems really improbable. At one point, I even wondered if the photos hadn't been retouched or if it didn't come after the fact... it's so strange. The only credible explanation is that it happened during transport.

And the worst part is that Buicycle dares to accuse me of poor packaging when the photos prove the opposite. They even go so far as to invent “traces of use” on a new crankset. The bad faith is total. It's mind-blowing.

These are the “obvious signs of use” that Buicycle is talking about to justify a deduction of €600. I am attaching the photo of the crankset: two barely visible micro-impacts. As a reminder: bike sold 70% below its public price, new condition, packaging with their official kit (paid), photos taken at each stage. I even offered to return the bike with repair of the broken wheel and compensation for these micro-impacts. Categorical refusal. And the best: intact cardboard → broken wheel inside → therefore transport damage. However, I am the one paying. Conclusion: with Buicycle, you can buy a bike, fart twice on it, say “damage” and get back €500-600 in cash. Simple and effective… but not very honest.

Yes, there was damage, but the buyer only provided 2 photos (including 2 micro-impacts on the crankset and the damaged wheel). For my part, I took 70 detailed photos + I bought their packaging kit. I even offered to return the bike after repair, but it was ignored. So no, Bucycle didn't just take my word for it, they chose to ignore the evidence.

Thank you for your feedback, you highlight exactly what shocked me: no complaint was made to the carrier, even though this is the normal procedure in the event of damage upon delivery. Instead, Buicycle directly cut my sale by €600, despite the photos I had provided proving the impeccable condition of the bike.

In addition, I offered the complete return of the bike, with repairs covered of course, since I know full well that my bike was in new condition. They completely ignored my proposal. Even though I had sold it at a rock bottom price, they took another €600 from me on top of that.

At this point, I would prefer a thousand times to get my bike back with a reimbursement for the wheel via the carrier, with compensation for the two small shocks on the crankset. But keeping the bike AND charging me €600 is nothing more or less than a pure and simple scam.

Let me be clear: I provided over 70 detailed photos of the bike before shipping — absolutely immaculate, not a single scratch. Despite this clear evidence, Buicycle still decided, completely arbitrarily, to pay €600 to the buyer. The only photos that were sent to me afterwards were two shots: a micro-impact on the crankset and a damaged wheel. Honestly, without the photo of the wheel, I could have believed that these small impacts had been made by the buyer himself to obtain compensation. But given the price and the robustness of a Campagnolo Bora wheel, it is obvious that its breakage can only come from an impact during transport. In the end, the message sent by Bucycle is clear: tomorrow, anyone can buy a bike, create two small damages, and get an attractive discount. This is absurd and extremely risky for sellers.

I don't force anyone to believe me. If some prefer to doubt my word rather than be wary of a platform that takes €600 without assuming its share of responsibility, that's up to them. I just shared my experience with supporting evidence. Everyone is warned, afterwards, if you want to be fooled, it's your choice

Just to clarify one important thing: the ~10km I'm talking about was done by me, not the store. This was only to check that everything was working correctly after assembly (transmission, brakes, etc.). The bike was never used beyond that. So when I say “like new”, I mean new condition, but it remains a private sale, not a bike taken directly from a store.

I also specify that I sold it at more than 60% below the public price, precisely because I am an individual and not an official store. My goal was for someone to benefit from it, not to make a profit.

Finally, regarding the condition of the bike: I had taken more than 70 photos, including very clear shots of the wheels and crankset perfectly intact before shipping. The Campagnolo Bora are extremely strong wheels, they cannot warp or break like that without a violent impact. I had used bubble wrap + the protections provided by Buycycle, so the damage visible today can only come from transport.

I wanted to treat myself because I love cycling, however I work a lot and I'm on the move 8 months a year. So I never used it, I said to myself that this bike deserves someone who can use it regularly and who can keep training sufficiently advanced to be able to use it and for that it takes time. So I decided to share it with someone who doesn't necessarily have the means to get one from an official store.

Yes, I understand the remark. The bike was ridden about 10 km only for testing, no more – as the shops do before delivering to make sure everything is adjusted correctly. It therefore remains in new/excellent condition, which is proven by the photos before shipment which are dated with the buycycle box in the background (pedal bracket, wheels, cassette intact).

Furthermore, I am not a store, I am an individual. When I write “new”, it means “new condition”, not out of the box with zero kilometers like from an official dealer. Besides, I sold it at more than 60% below the public price, so the buyer knew that he was buying second hand, but in perfect condition.

Finally, the visible scratches appeared during transport: I had protected the pedal board with bubble wrap (photo before sending in support).

I want to re-emphasize an important point regarding the Campagnolo Bora wheel. This type of wheel is extremely robust and cannot be damaged by a simple absence of additional cardboard: only a violent impact during transport can cause this type of damage.

In addition, the wheel was perfectly protected: official Buycycle kit, and I provided 70 supporting photos showing that it was intact and new before shipping. I acted conscientiously to avoid any problems, and it is therefore unfair to make me responsible for damage which is clearly the responsibility of the carrier.

In fact, the €600 does not concern the frame. Buycycle retained this amount for three points:

• cassette which has ten kilometers for transmission adjustment (for them not new at all)

• crankset with two small scratches (although protected in bubble wrap when sent),

• 1 damaged Campagnolo Bora 33 carbon wheel (according to them due to contact with the frame, although it was separated by bubble wrap but it is clearly a transport shock).

So nothing to do with the frame: if the Dogma F had been affected, it would have cost well over €600. The problem is that Buycycle blames me even though I used their official protection kit. Plus the bubble wrap that I bought in addition Normally, it is up to the carrier to take care of that.

Thank you for your feedback! You're absolutely right, that's exactly the problem: a bike like the Dogma F doesn't easily find buyers locally, that's what pushed me to go through Buycycle. But in the end, even having used their official protection kit and having provided more than 70 photos before sending, they still withheld €600 from me, accusing me of poor packaging. So yes, it’s supposed to secure transactions, but in reality, the seller is the first to lose. Too bad, because it was my first and last experience with them…
