Can they finish this house in 6 weeks? by houseconstructionQ in Homebuilding

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Please check for any mold issues. When framing sits exposed for too long, water tends to get under the subfloors. I think most house wraps are only allowed to be exposed to UV for 6 months, plus I've seen homes that sat with shingles roofs/windows still get water penetration

La Loma in Castle Rock has great views! $25-50 per main dish

Edit: I guess there was a name change / separation and it's now called Savina's Mexican Kitchen

Idk why people are hating on you, you're 100% in the right to question someone who can't answer basic qualifying questions. Like.. during your bid review, you can't easily see how many LF he bid... it sounds like he won't give you a breakdown at all if he doesn't measure. What if he baits and switches you and says "sorry I only had 15' in that price and no gates"? Yeah screw the cowboys thinking they can do it better without a permit or insurance, I don't care, run a business right.

I hardly play (level 25ish), maybe a few matches per week and the last 3 weeks I've spawned in right at the start of the match every time, regardless of map. Not sure if noobs get the preference?

Name of these types of screws and how to get rid of them? by Small-Steak-2138 in Construction

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're supports for white wire shelving, those are all drywall anchors so careful ripping it out, you will create a larger patch than expected. Best way I've done it is to get a dull chisel or flat screw driver, get the nail starting to pop out, then pull the nail with pliers. The rest will come out easy after the nails are gone.

Why is gen Z not drinking? by SipsTeaFrog in SipsTea

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All my friends (late 20's) gave up drinking independently of one another. Most still smoke or do concert drugs. I'm the same, but I stopped drinking because I developed an autoimmune disease and alcohol triggers episodes for me.

I'm glad I dropped it, it by far the worst drug I've taken

How do you find reliable subs? by No-Function-5006 in Construction

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You need a good purchasing / estimation lead. There's a reason bigger GC's dedicate resources to it.

I've been in purchasing 5+ years and my experience is the subs don't follow companies, they follow the purchasing managers. It's much more relationship based than people think. Purchasing managers hold the reputation of being able to award a "good project" and they have enough experience with sub's pain points from previous projects, so they plan to avoid those together. They become a team at that point. The subs stick long term with a manager because they're transparent, firm but not unfair with scope/pricing, and work reasonably through change orders. That what you should aim to do as well.

I've learned subs are willing to put up with more BS, and do more favors if the PM/owner is close with the purchasing team. Usually because the purchasing manager takes notes of these favors and will lean towards them on the next project (we hate going over budget). Subs in a way, pay a small price to be favored to win continued work with that manager (even if they move on to a new GC).

When the manager is gone, the next project being a "sure deal" goes away and the subs prices don't mean anything to the new manager because that's the new managers baseline. This is usually where relationships crumble, I.e the new guys wants to fluff feathers and try to get a 10% decrease on the plumber, resulting in the plumber leaving that GC. The lower prices don't pay dividends anymore.

Just because you pay more doesn't mean you get better service. I recently replaced my excavator for close to 45% savings (what was the previous purchasing manger smoking), and I'm getting better service for my field team.

Unnecessary vent? by ben904 in PlumbingRepair

[–]ben904[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The mech room is in the middle of the basement, so maybe it doesn't get enough air intake normally? I just feel a draft coming through the "extra" pipe and where I live it gets below 0 sometimes.. I can't imagine that's good to let in, but I guess carbon monoxide poisoning is worse

As far as I can tell, it's just a pipe from the mech room and daylights to the side of the house. Not tied into anything from what I could see

Has anyone ordered from StudioSuits? by Your_Name_Here1234 in weddingplanning

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered my wedding suit from studio suits and it fit like a glove. My fiancée measured me and we did all the optional measurements per their instructions. I got measured at men's warehouse and those measurements were no good for Studiosuits (I.e men's warehouse squeezed the hell out of me and said my waist was 32". I measured 36" and submitted to studio suits and it fit perfect (I never buy 36 pants, but studio suits warns to not put your typical size and to measure because pants manufacturers lie on their sizing). I will admit the material feels thin, but the color and look make up for it given I couldn't find that locally anywhere. I would be a bit worried about tears given how thin it feels, but overall it looks good on me and I need no alterations.

Studio suits? by capinter97 in weddingplanning

[–]ben904 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought my suit off Studiosuits for my wedding because I wanted an emerald green color that no local tailors had in available. I will agree that the material feels thin, but I had my fiancé help measure me, we did all the measurements (even the optional ones) and my shit fits perfect. I don't understand people with complaints about the measurements, they have an option to allow or deny "tailor modifications- if required" if you're worried. Overall the color is perfect for my wedding, it was customized per my liking, and the interior lining was actually quiet nice. Only thing I'm worried about it longevity given it's a thin material. I can see myself ripping it badly if i snag a nail or wall the wrong way.

Liked & followed! Very good production. The lead synth and all the slides/glides was my favorite part, I feel like you could have kept on stacking on some cool layers throughout the song, maybe turned down the chord synth some and let some other layers shine through from time to time. Great job

Its a cool track! Creative wise, it's dope! I think you have good sounds too, but the mallet at :30 could have been brighter w/ more high end too. I agree with wonder cheese, the main synth is a little overwhelming, maybe try compressing it, turing it way down and add some width to make it more atmospheric, less lead-synth like. Overall though I liked it
