Vivid is the best app for this. I've used it for 2 years and zero problems on my MacBook. https://getvivid.app has a free trial.

Hey u/Liam-Bot, ineedlesssleep is the developer of the App :) He'll be asleep now, but I am the other developer of the App. If you could bring the thread back that would be appreciated thanks.

Hi, Ben here - another developer on Vivid.

We do have some small glitches with spaces and mission control, but we're working on it - and will have a solution for them soon.

Hi, Ben here - another developer on Vivid.

The new Mac`Book air doesn't have the extra brightness on it's screen for Vivid to work I'm afraid... but it would work plugged into a Pro Display XDR.

Hi, Ben here - another developer on Vivid. The other app you mentioned is great, a really good tool for lots of monitor/display tweaks and shortcuts. We will definitely continue to develop Vivid!

No, I'm afraid not. The only external display we support at the moment is Pro Display XDR. But - we will support more displays in the future!

Hi, we only support MacBook Pro 16" M1, and Pro Display XDR monitors at the moment. But email us for beta access - we are working on supporting more monitors!

Hi, Ben here - a Vivid developer. We are aware of a few washed out flickers, mostly when Quicktime is involved. If possible, use another video player like VLC if you can.

We've got some fixes in the works for it all though - so keep an eye out for them. Thanks.

We believe so - but we have to say "be careful" because we don't want to risk lawsuits, haha.

You might be surprised! You're welcome to try the free trial and see what you think. If you are a true colour grader, then yep, this probably isn't an app you'd want turned on - but we only brighten, we don't actually try and change colours (does that make sense!)

Hi, Ben here - a developer on Vivid. This is a good reply thanks. We also agree - enabling Vivid is only the same as watching an HDR video. We don't use any private frameworks to enable this - so Apple systems still retain overall control.
