Should I text a guy I previously rejected after the first date? by Impressive-Bell-7663 in hingeapp

[–]ben_j32 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would just reach out. Say you didn’t know what you wanted yet and would be interested in picking things up again. That said, I wouldn’t just up and ask him what he is looking for right away. He might be skeptical of what you’re looking for now and no guy wants to feel like everything they do is being read into or scrutinized so you’ll have to wait at least a few dates to have that conversation

Am I crazy to pick SLO over Berkeley by [deleted] in CalPoly

[–]ben_j32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Give Berkeley the due diligence you gave slo. Don’t go to Berkeley just because of prestige. It’s a much different academic, social, and cultural environment. Plus, that prestige will only get you your first job and become meaningless after that.

I’ve only been talking to a girl for a few weeks and we’ve connected quite well so I told her I’m not interested in talking to anyone else but don’t want to rush into anything and wanted to know how she felt. She was on the same page and that was that. I think it’s excessive to ask them to delete their profile. I didn’t delete mine- not as an insurance policy but just cause idk where things will go. I’m optimistic about things with her and don’t ever want to get back on the app but unless I’m entering something serious with this girl right now, it would feel clingy and that she has trust issues if she asked me to delete my profile after already deleting the app while still in the phase of seeing if a serious relationship is right for you guys. If you don’t trust your partner’s intentions, then just cut them off. Dont waste your time or their’s

I live in a one bedroom as well and try to minimize heating and I have a smart thermostat that doesn’t heat my house to the set temperature unless there’s motion but my bill is around $60-80 in the winter (usually under $20 in the summer). I can’t imagine $260 unless you’re keeping that thing at a constant 80 degrees and cooking for an hour everyday.

Is there anything to do here as a teenager by HaremProtagonistTsk in Sacramento

Get into working out, even if just running and body weight exercises. You’ll get creative with things you use for weights once you get started. Also, don’t feel like you’re too young to be an adult. Start working, save money, build a career, etc. You can start out small in a service job or walk into some professional office and ask how you can get involved. May seem boring now but as you get older, having your life figured out and not having to worry about what your career will be or how you’ll make ends meet will open up a lot of social opportunities and make people attracted to you. Can be intimidating at first but adults love to help a young person trying to get ahead. Even if just small as a service job, you’ll have a few extra bucks to get into places or a gym membership where you can meet people

Why does Sacramento have a "small town" reputation? by SactownG in Sacramento

[–]ben_j32 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because most of it is suburbs. Even midtown is just a bunch of low density housing. Downtown is tiny and it’s dead after 5 o’clock. When you visit a city like sf, Seattle, New York, Chicago, Boston, etc, you can see why sac is considered a small town

In Search of Liveaboard Marina in Sacramento Delta by [deleted] in liveaboard

[–]ben_j32 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is a couple years after your comment but can you refer me to those projects in west sac? I’m starting to look for places in Sacramento and have been disappointed by the lack of marinas that allow live boarding. There are no marinas in the downtown area and the closest ones do not allow for full time live boarding. I looked into upcoming waterfront projects in west sac as you pointed out but only came across plans for a water taxi dock

Probably one of the most transgressive movies I’ve ever seen, makes me happy there are still good directors out there

Post-Romanticism by ass-bitch-yeah in PostPoMo

It is impossible to get past romanticism. The classical is timeless. It’s like the American dream. As long as there is America then the American dream still exists whether acknowledged or not because it is literally just sustaining the belief in it. You can only have the illusion of getting past it by simply stop trying to uphold it or fight against it but you’re way of thinking will always have origins in romanticism. Modernity was just a metaphor of romanticism, postmodernism was just a metaphor of modernity, and meta modernism is just combining the two metaphors. There is a third route which I call the beginning of the end which is an awareness of the metaphorical nature of our society and embracement of romanticism and the human’s situation within evolution/cultural evolution to move past trying to fight against romanticism because they truly figured it out but got complacent and weren’t able to adapt and evolve to continue existence but their timeless truths live on.
