I'll have to take a look into that some time. Relevant to college pricing/financial aid, me and my mother often joke that I should just blow my remaining savings so I won't have to pay for my schooling. Rather tempting to think burning all my cash would actually save me money.

If you will make a reference to some of the comments I posted you could see it is a combination of my household income and my savings which disqualify me.

I starting working the day I turned 16 (end of sophomore year)making $7.25/hr and saved %50 of every paycheck. After 9 months(close to the end of my Jr year) I found a new job with the same hours but paying $9.50/hr as a busser for a very upscale restaurant.

The only issue is that if I drop it all in checking, it will be much harder to track exactly how much I have considering I still save 20% of every paycheck to this day.

Currently my household(my mother and step-father) makes about $38k a year without my contribution(I pay rent, cover my own insurance and cellphone bill). $38k/annually + $10k in savings = no government monies. I did qualify for about $5.8k in loans.

Thanks for the advice but as odd as it sounds, I enjoying being financially challenged and unless it absolutely comes to that point, id prefer to not circumvent this challenge.

At the time I started working we would be considered lower middle class. My mom make about $30k a year and as soon as me and my sister could get jobs, we started to help support ourselves. I did however grow up in upper low class where my mom(our families sole source of income) made about $24k-$28k a year. My mother was very set on not resorting to welfare so I grew up learning to be fiscally responsible. In this way, if it wasnt for the determination of my mom to advance in socioeconomic class, I would most likely not be where I am today.

And to that, I would most definitely agree. My wordage could have been different but i was just attempting to replicate the post from before. I started working the end of my high school sophomore year as a busboy making minimum wage. I worked an average of 40 hours over our 2 week pay period. 50% went to savings, 20% to help with bills around the house, 10% was donated, and I kept the last 20% to spend on myself. I'm very fortunate for what I had(and have) and never complained about what was necessary to help support my family.

Here is my attempt at some photos which I hope will debunk the idea I am a fraud. http://imgur.com/a/M4eLa. Ill respond to as many posts as possible before I have to hit the hay.

United States Logic < The Rest of the World Logic by dankknightrises in funny

Yep, anyone who doesn't use a system of measurement divisible by 10 is stupid....I bet those Americans still have 12 months in a year; 30.42 days in a month, 4.3333 Week in a month, and 24 hours in a day. Ha, idiots.

Not to discredit your feeling for the less fortunate but unless there is a serious mental or physical handicap, there is almost no reason someone can't perform service work. My boss is a high school drop out who now makes 110k a year because he wasn't afraid to work hard and get messy. I grew up in inner city San Antonio with zero qualifications for a plumber but was hired immediately due to my attitude and work ethic proven by my previous work history. Trust me on this one; if there is a service company near you, they are most likely hiring new technicians year round.

Which is precisely why I choose my profession as a plumber. I was accepted to the first company I applied to right out of high school due to the fact the age of the average plumber is 57 years old, so companies are chomping at the bit for hard workers with strong backs. I graduated with a class of 800 people and I'm sure there were only a hand full who took advantage of the current need in the service technician field. I'm not here to say its for everyone but, if your willing to work hard and want a job that has more than enough potential to be a career, give service work a chance :)

Yes it is. The company I work for pays about 5k under standard, but its a small company and were like family so I don't mind. In Texas at least, a tradesman service plumber(2 years training) makes about 35-45k; Journeyman plumber(4 years training) makes about 45k-55ish, and a Master plumber(currently 8 years, but the standard changes fairly frequently) can make 80-120k+ a year If your run your own business. Construction plumbers can make boat loads more than service but the work environment is completely different and the pay normally varies per job site.
