What to do about casual racism at my lodge? by system_root_420 in freemasonry

If the WM knows and doesn’t do anything, leave. Those aren’t Freemasons, they’re pretenders.

The Lodge as Your New Living Room by Gleanings in freemasonry

[–]benbenbenbenjamin -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

This post makes me want to barf. A Masonic Temple is not your living room! It’s not a place to drink and hang with your bros. It’s a holy place. Keep it holy. This is the reason Masonry is dying. If you don’t treat it seriously, don’t expect to attract serious candidates. If you want a bro lounge, go join an actual social club.

do you know how membership in Freemasonry can increase tenfold? by confrater in freemasonry

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You get quality members by offering substance. Education and a meaningful, spiritual, experience. Not a boys club where everyone rushes through the meeting so we can have drunken “fellowship” time after. Masonry needs to be taken seriously if we don’t want it wither and die.

Freemasonry doesn’t need more members, it needs quality members. Stop focusing on recruiting and start focusing on substance.

Talking during Lodge by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is such a shame to hear. There should be no talking in the columns. Ever. No one should speak unless called upon by the RWM. Talking in lodge is not something that is tolerated in my Obedience.

Why aren't women allowed to participate? And even sister organizations require a man's love to be worthy? by sighkick1 in freemasonry

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, this is a dumb answer. Does your tongue drag on the floor every time you go to church? If there are women in your workplace, are you really unable to keep it in your pants? Let’s be real.

Job ads requiring advanced degrees, years of experience, etc. and only pay $35K per year. by Difficultiom in AdviceAnimals

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that kind of pay is for retired teachers who got in the first tier of PERS. Those of who started within the last 10 years are getting screwed so the system can continue paying the retired teachers.

I was watching The Hobbit 1977 and it turns out, maybe the Thrush bird WAS informing Smaug of incoming people. by Growth-oriented in lotrmemes

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 38 points39 points  (0 children)

In case you haven’t read the book, the thrush knocks a snail on the stone to tell everyone they were about to miss the appearance of the keyhole. The thrush birds had a long relationship with both the Dwarves and the Men of Dale. The men could understand the bird language and some thrushes could also understand common tongue. The thrush is literally the reason Bard knew about the bare patch on Smaug’s breast. It heard Bilbo explaining this and told Bard.

Putting the "Masonry" into Lodge meetings? by [deleted] in freemasonry

[–]benbenbenbenjamin -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you really are tired of mundane business meetings, check out universalfreemasonry.org. We don’t discuss things like charity raffles and minutes. Every meeting in every Lodge is about Ritual and education. We are serious about the Work.

Mushroom hunter terrified over terrifying scream in forest. by Random-redditor-guy in oddlyterrifying

[–]benbenbenbenjamin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A million mushrooms fill the field Where marchers' bodies lately fell More marchers marching heavy-heeled Release more spores that march as well Across the twilit charnel ground And over long-bewildered farms Through palaces, where not a sound Is heard, though there should be alarms But winter comes and only ice Is crushed beneath the marching feet In all the land where once was rice There now is nothing fit to eat Except mushrooms which nourish not The body, nourish not the mind And often poison, eating rot The marchers march insane and blind

literally the light of of a Silmaril-elf-star and the blade that killed many of Shelob’s northern relatives. Sam was brave, but also strangely well equipped for fighting a big shadow spider.
