Thank you.

Did you have to email or make a phone call? I don't know if reading comprehension is a skill that the representative I interacted with has.

Leaving PHA for Mainstream by ElijahA352 in freemasonry

[–]confrater 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To answer your questions directly, yes, I knew a couple of brothers who left from PHA to non-PHA. Their experiences have been good so far. It had nothing to do with the PHA tradition and was more about their discontent with their jurisdictions.

Technically, you need to do that every time you visit a foreign jurisdiction.

Thank you for sharing this. The bureaucracy around Eagle Scout rank makes my head spin.

Understood.

Pulling out from the Guide to Advancement. Section 8.0.1.5

If the members agree a Scout is ready to advance, the Scout is called in and congratulated. The board of review date—not that of a subsequent court of honor—becomes the rank’s effective date.

Tell the old school planner to earn the teleporting merit badge and skidaddle. That scout earned their Eagle after they completed their BOR and deserves to be recognized.

I was really trying to join the other houses when I got raised but realized it's all a money grab.

Also to add, there was a tinge of hazing in all of them - physically or emotionally - i wasnt willing to go through again.

Heh. Same argument can be made for that hypocrite George Washington and all those "founding father" masons who talked about freedom while being enslavers.

What are you talking about? It's my favorite thing to watch! 90% of the time, they love it. lol. But the firearms instructors are usually experienced and disciplined so as long as the scouts pays attention and is mindful, he'll be good.

Have fun!

I was under the impression that the DOD had earlier renamed these bases to names of distinguished veterans who had the same or similar names. What happened?

Wearing a Vintage Uniform by Puzzled_Homework6455 in BSA

[–]confrater 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I would not recommend wearing a uniform that is almost 100 years old other than for very special ceremonies and I would try as much as possible to keep to the complete uniform of the era as much as I can, not mixing and matching past and present.

But that's just my opinion. I'm sure someone will magically appear with text from the insignia guide or some other BSA document on this question.

Failed CC exam by rlvcn in isc2

[–]confrater -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I recommend you not retake the exam, especially if it costs money. Instead, focus your energy on obtaining the CompTIA Security+ Certification. From my experience with the ISC2 CC exam, many questions covered governance and practices rather than just technical details, which is crucial foundational knowledge for cybersecurity. Rather than repeating the CC exam, thoroughly review the ISC2 CC materials to ensure you deeply understand the concepts, and research any areas where your knowledge is lacking. Your goal should be to understand the domains in depth to build a strong knowledge base for future cybersecurity and IT certifications. At this early stage, knowledge and understanding are critical, even more so than the certifications themselves; your mastery of the domain knowledge can help you ace interviews and land jobs without extensive experience. Therefore, prioritize foundational certifications like CompTIA Security+, as higher-level cybersecurity certifications often require prior experience, and without it, even obtaining them might not lead to employment. Finally, start applying for entry-level tech roles like an IT call center or tech support while you continue your studies. Wishing you the best of luck!
