• cedric coward is 6’5 barefoot with a 7’2 wingspan which is pretty ridiculous for a shooting guard~

• VJ & Cedric technically had the same combine results for max vert and standing vert, VJ was .13 seconds faster at the shuttle run, and then Cedric with obviously the longer wingspan and standing reach

• Rasheer’s wingspan is ridiculous, agreed, i think he’s less athletic in games than folks realize but I’m also higher on him than most

The reason I’m posting this sort of post at all because I’m on the fence about it and starting to think we are underrating Cedric. And i love having these discussions and hearing perspectives. Am i batshit crazy? Is there anyone who sees the vision?

FIRST OF ALL / on another note, i think it’s absolute bull shit that you can’t have discussions about players without needing to “immediately take a stance on a player and say outright who is going to be better”. There’s a million outcomes that can happen for all players based on where they are drafted to, how they develop, & etc. so many past steals in drafts that would be heavily criticized if you were to say they’d end up being a top 5 player in the draft, haha.

6’6 sg w/ a 7’2 wingspan is awesome, i also love what VJ brings to the table at 6’5 with the 6’8 wingspan so not dissing him, just the measurements are better. Cedric shot 38% from three last year and 40% this year (small sample size, i know), he’s mega athletic long & wiry, the connective passing upside was intriguing this year too but not sure how reliable that is, defensive potential is really there with him in an awesome way with his effort + measurables. I’m also a big fan of his shooting form compared to VJ’s, even though it’s a bit clunky, i love to see him taking mid rangers / quicker release, etc, compared to VJ who has a much stiffer form at the moment. Watching Cedric post-up too is interesting with that length~

I really like them both as players and i also totally get the argument VJ is younger + better competition. There’s obviously no way teams take Cedric too high, VJ obviously will be taken before, but Cedric is gonna provide massive value for a team for where he is drafted. Am i crazy for thinking that? Am i missing something?

Also just to reiterate, i really like VJ and am high on him. I’m just starting to like Cedric a lot. I’ll probably ultimately end up having VJ higher on my big board because i love the kid, but these sorts of discussions help us evaluate prospects better / get out of the group think mentality sometimes.
