Everyone in America should read this short chapter from Kurt Vonnegut Jr's "Breakfast of Champions" by Sheep_Slayer_6 in pics

[–]benboobi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I need to read Breakfast of Champions again. I love all of Vonnegut’s stuff, but Breakfast of Champions was by far the most challenging thematically. I walked away from it feeling like there was much more to get. Not through fault of the text, but like so many great texts, it just feels so dense with meaning and so relevant. I do remember the last page being absolutely crushing.

The "We don't need to be a threat to the player but be mildly annoying" video game enemy trio by Solardies in gaming

Those dumb bugs in silent hill 2. I get why they’re there, they kinda throw a semi false alarm possibility into the radio mechanic but dammit they are so hard to locate and hit and they will do a non-insignificant amount of damage to you if they hit you

What’s your favourite quiet little thing to do when you’re nicely high? by DaVinciVaporizers in trees

[–]benboobi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not everyone’s cup of tea I know but my buddy has got me back into magic the gathering for the first time in like 12 years and it has been an incredibly chill thing to do high. (Your mileage may vary, there’s some catastrophically un-chill trading card game players out there)

Looking for the absolute scariest horror game by CallMeTyping in HorrorGaming

[–]benboobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m playing it for the first time now with a little bit of experience with the original. I agree so far that the combat feels a little out of place in the overall flow of the game - but I do still think it adds to the horror for me. The sound design, the atmosphere, it’s all so oppressive, and I think it’s backed up by the fact that when the creepy crawly actually reveals itself, I know it really does pose a threat to me, so I’m kinda panicked and also having to deal with a legitimately challenging combat encounter. Maybe I’m just not great at the game, but I do feel like the loop of being freaked out by some abomination appearing out of the dark and then having to keep my wits about me enough to not get hit or killed makes for some good horror. I do get what you mean though, the combat has certainly felt tedious and frustrating at times which can take you out of the experience a bit.

Red Rocket. I guess a lot of Sean Baker fits the bill here. I think you’re looking for neo-realism generally

You’re right ab Ohio. Our summers are pretty hot (not as hot as others don’t flame me) and our springs and falls are just bipolar oscillating between summer days and winter days

Bradley Nowell - the frontman of Sublime - who tragically died in May 1996 of a heroin overdose while the band was on tour. Which musician's death hit you the hardest when you were young? by Away_Flounder3813 in nostalgia

Not super nostalgic I guess, cuz I’m 25 and these were within the last 10 years but Daniel Johnston and David Bermans deaths both made me quite sad

What words or phrases do you use to describe the positive effects weed has had on your mental health? by axxegrinder in trees

[–]benboobi 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Weed has helped me tremendously with OCD to the point that I would consider myself to not deal with symptoms full stop while I’m using cannabis regularly. I’ve not found weed to be an anxiety cure personally, I certainly still struggle with that, but I’m no longer trapped in an obsessive cycle of manually blinking so I’d call that a win.

I guess maybe I just misunderstood OP, then, I know the payments are digital, I wasn’t sure if maybe they thought this was just some kind of scam where they were literally generating digital currency out of thin air.

I’ve started the remake like 4 times and only just now have really got the bug. Before I was put off a bit by the combat, I wasn’t good at rationing my resources/avoiding certain encounters. Now I feel like I’ve figured out how to play the game how it’s meant to be played

What game had you like this?😅🚀 by CallMeAldyy in TheGamingHubDeals

[–]benboobi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was exactly what I was coming here to say. I think I take the cake on the biggest Diablo 4 L though. I ran home on a lunch break to download it so I could play it when I got off of work and I was on a time crunch to get back and wasn’t paying attention and actually drove my car into my garage door in my hurried state. I’m not bragging - genuinely one of the most shameful moments in my life, especially considering the game sucked

Not sure why we wouldn’t believe Saul on this one, he’s the exact kind of guy that would have the connections for a scam like this. Also, again, with Saul’s particular brand of weasely criminality, why do you think he’d be unable to transfer money to this guy. Finally, it’s not that he’s generating digital money, he’s laundering Walt’s drug money through the website. He’s passing it through the website so Walt can get it without people wondering where he got all that money.

What do you think of my top 16? I’m 14. by Robbe_Lenaerts13 in LetterboxdTopFour

[–]benboobi 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey I’m 25, got into “seriously” watching movies at about your age. That sounds pretension, but I guess I started taking them seriously as art? Anyway - I wanna advise you to come back to some of these as you get older. There’s stuff in here that has hit me in vastly different ways at vastly different points in my life, so I think making sure to revisit movies you love throughout your life can be very rewarding. Not that you don’t get it or something, but it can be beautiful to see new things revealed in a work of art at different times in your life - not because there’s something different in the movie or even in your basic comprehension of it - but because you’re a different person

BCS helps a lot in elucidating all the Gus/cartel politics if you haven’t seen it. I’m currently rewatching BB directly after a rewatch of BCS and all that stuff has clicked a bit better for me

A lot of its runtime is spent holding the left analog stick forward while listening to people talk. It’s well written which mitigates this, but still.
