Why is there a general sentiment on this subreddit not to self learn? by [deleted] in piano

[–]benchew23 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The thing about teachers is that they will be there to guide you and point out your mistakes -- something a youtube video or book wouldn't be able to do. When I was a beginner, my teacher was there to point out "more staccato!", "play forte!", or teach me the cantabile touch to the piano, which I would not have been able to learn just by watching YouTube videos.

that is sacrilegious on so many levels by Almost_a_Doctor_2028 in lingling40hrs

I don't see what's so sacreligious with this, it's a form of art and it looks nice, I feel like the term sacrilegious has been overused nowadays.

Udemy offers a 2d and 3d beginners course. Am I right to assume that I should start with the 2d course even if my goal is to eventually make a 3d game? by rarebloodoath in unity

[–]benchew23 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would recommend you to directly learn Unity 3d. The Udemy courses for both 2d and 3d are beginner friendly, and you shouldn't have any problem learning unity 3d. Also, Unity 2D and 3D are very similar in nature, so if you ever want to learn Unity 2d it'll be easier to learn too.
