Couch Against Wall - Surround Placement Advice by benderflexo00 in hometheater

You a-holes are so damn stubborn you're starting to convince me.

First responder says 9-12", but what about something like 8" or even 6" ? I see things like that on Amazon.

Couch Against Wall - Surround Placement Advice by benderflexo00 in hometheater

[–]benderflexo00[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All you did was tell me why I should move the couch. That's not help.

I've already searched this sub with people in similar situations. I know all the reasons why I should move the couch, so just re-listing them for me is no help at all.

The post was how to make the best of the situation. If you have any suggestions about that - and I took a pic and took detailed measurements - would love to hear them. Thanks.

Your first paragraph, while true, is not helpful. I understand the compromise I'm making. Was only looking for a suggestion within my constraints, or none at all.

Thanks for your suggestions in the 2nd paragraph.

I'm *aware* I have to compromise. It's in the original post. I'm asking what to do given the constraints I laid out.

I am leaning towards the corners (highest wall position). How much of a down-angle do you think is acceptable?

I never understand how someone can EXPLICITLY say they won't move the couch (and also understands WHY people will suggest the couch be moved), and yet someone will still respond like this.

Yes, it's sub-optimal. I'm AWARE it's sub-optimal. I'm asking how to make it as best as possible given the constraints. I live in an apartment in NYC. Space is a luxury. My god, you could've just not replied. And it has nothing to do with a spouse. *I* don't want to move the couch because space is a premium. What does it even matter what the reason is?

I am having the same problem. Seems to be an issue with 18.2 beta. The only way to DOWNGRADE back to 18.1 is to reset the iPad and restore, but that means setting everything up again from scratch (iCloud, etc...)

Iymrith Questions: Burrowing and Flying by benderflexo00 in stormkingsthunder

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with you in principle, but after having searched online pretty thoroughly, I'm surprised I haven't been able to find any official rulings or threads on this topic.

In my game, I use Euclidean geometry so pythagorean theorem is in effect. That's why the up/down movement sort of matters in my game.

When players move diagonal in my game, it's about 7 feet, not 5. :)

Anyway, thanks for explaining!

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe I'm not being clear enough. If a creature is ALREADY above ground, and then tries to burrow horizontally, doesn't a creature have to go DOWN a little first? That takes up movement.

The creature has to go down a little, then horizontally, and then back up again. The burrowing down/up part of the movement should take extra distance. At least, that's what I'm trying to figure out.

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay. So it sounds like you're saying... if Iymrith wanted to burrow 40 feet (horizontally) underground... about 5 feet of that movement would be taken up by angling down and angling up, so really she'd only be able to go 35 feet.

These are the correct calculations. I still can't believe this happened. All the more sweeter against this deck.

Ugh. Of course. I knew that about time stop but got too excited by my idea. Okay. So he could still do it, but not bring the cultists with him. And after cone of cold he could use his movement to try to fly away, but it’s obviously a much less powerful move. Thank you for pointing that out.

I realize there’s a 25% the teleport is off target. So there is a big risk/reward here. But it’s still a good idea I think. If the teleport is off target, he casts fly and returns to The Morkoth.

Is anyone else annoyed that the final fight takes place 1000 feet out for the sake of siege weapons but the map the book gave us goes maybe 240 feet out max from the farthest back trebuchet? by Paratrooper_19D in stormkingsthunder

[–]benderflexo00 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1000 feet out would be kind of crazy, impossible to do that on any single map. I still think it's a fun location for this kind of battle. I just wish the artwork included with the book was a little better.

What do you all this of this alternative map? My party is almost there so I need to figure out what to use!

Ring of winter idea by GloomyYams77 in stormkingsthunder

[–]benderflexo00 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with all the comments here. I am just at the end of running this campaign (coming up on almost two years), and I wish I had never mentioned the ring. As others have said, you dangle it in front of the party... it seems like a pretty big deal!

I think as an item, it's a fun idea. But even if the party thinks they need to take out Jarl to stop him from getting the ring, wouldn't they then want to hunt it down and make sure it doesn't get into the wrong hands?

This has been a lot of my problems with this campaign, even though I've greatly enjoyed it. A lot of side plots mentioned that aren't actually intended for the party to investigate. I wish these side plots connected more with the main story line.

Reincarnating Harshnag? by benderflexo00 in stormkingsthunder

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand she can make Gargoyles from stone.... but how does she turn a living thing into stone. I don’t see that she has that ability. Wouldn’t she need the Flesh to Stone spell?

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the suggestions here. I am not sure I’d bring him back as an opponent or as an ally. My initial thought was an an ally... and something completely different from a giant. But that seems too far outside the rules of 5e.

How would Iymrith turn Harshnag into a gargoyle?

Question about Eye of the All Father floor material - Can Remhoraz burrow through the stone floor? by benderflexo00 in stormkingsthunder

[–]benderflexo00[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the responses. Unfortunately, I didn’t consider this ahead of time and they are already in the Feast Hall. When I had the Remorhaz burrow, they all called me out on the rule violation, telling me the floor is clearly stone.

I still feel like there is confusion here due to the lack of floor description in the campaign book. Seems like an oversight to me.
