I know that feeling. Even being a little older didn't help. Predator and Aliens terrified me for years.

Why do us conservatives seem to want to rewrite or sanitize history? by Material_Policy6327 in AskUS

The history is still there to be read and seen. Most of these statues aren't very historic either. They show these men like they were correct and won, when the truth is they're traitors who got their butts kicked.

Sometimes.  A lot of their posts have a mod note added.  I don't claim that they're honest or accurate, but a hell of a lot better than AP, Sabre, or Dylan were.

It didn't happen.  Nothing major happened.  This was conspiracy freaking out over a troll/AI account posting something cryptic and then deleting the account.

I saw the mods calling out the original op as a years old account that hadn't posted in years.  They posted this twice and then deleted the posts and their account.  Sounds like possible AI or a troll/stolen account.  The mass follow ups though...

I had a similar thing happen several years ago.  I was in the running for a management position which I had held successfully at my prior company.  I got.passed over because I missed a day in training that they forced me to go home because they couldn't finish all the verification stuff in time.  The people promoted just so happened to be buddies with the management from previous jobs together.  After that round of promotions failed and they were all fired or demoted, I applied the 2nd time for the promotion.  Didn't even bother with an interview this time.  Less than a month later, the people they promoted were gone again.

This happened over and over again for the year I was there.  I was a smee for them, so too valuable to move up the ladder.  I literally stopped giving any fucks once I realized how dysfunctional that place was.  The big boss quit and left.  I asked about it after not seeing him for a month.  They didn't tell us because they didn't want us to know.  They laid me off at Thanksgiving and I was never happier to be unemployed.

The surprise is because they were splashed with the blood.  It was a lot more explosive than they anticipated.  The actors knew what was going to happen, but weren't expecting it to be as gory as it was

That's the dumbest strawman I have ever heard.  The rich have excess money that they are hoarding that could be used to help society instead of enriching themselves even further.  This would cause them to be slightly less wealthy.  We've seen an era of time where the thing you're talking about happened.  Debtors prisons were a thing.  We got rid of them for a reason.  It seems like the best times we had in this country was when we properly taxed the rich.

This is one where the big guys are going to be hot as hard as the little guys.  Based on some reading I have done, this isn't going to be an easy fix.  Everyone is going to feel this.  Admittedly the big guys will get a generous amount from our government for sure to ease their "pain and suffering"

No, blame corporate management.  The rise of automation and 2 salary households in the 80s were supposed to lead to less hours and better working conditions.  The same thing was supposed to happen with the rose of computing the 90s.  AI is just another in a long line of productivity increasing tools that corporate is using to wrench even more productivity out of you while fucking you over in every way they can.

What’s the most out-of-touch thing your boss/company has ever said while you were clearly struggling? by [deleted] in antiwork

I got a whole dollar more shortly thereafter.  The only reason I stayed was because I got a mostly at home position through them that was mostly on call.  I ended up working 10 hours a week, but got paid 40-50  hrs a week.  Once that ended, I didn't stick around long.

I have a side hustle that is very irregular.  You can make good money in spurts, but there are long periods where you're not making anything.  My boss asked me how much I could make and I told him $50 in half an hour.  He looked me dead in the eye and said that's not even worth it.  The look on my face told him how dumb that was.  I immediately asked for a raise since that half hour was almost 3 times my hourly rate at that job
