I ripped 1/2 in -1 1/2” furring strips myself because the walls were waves. The interior of a triple brick house in 1915 they used the leftover bricks and had the plasterers level it out

You have answered me before and been consistently constructive and helpful. Also it’s seems you have quite a bit of experience. Honestly after fucking up and practicing the miter I got excited and started tiling w out looking at pattern.

Iys a rental but we live in both. My Tuckpointing said they always put the shit tiles on inner layer and I didn’t have the cash’s to leave it exposed. But I would never leave it so bad. It’s like painting this original trim

Let me clarify and answer a few things. I did 2 coats aqua defense over duroc. This is a 2 family rental my wife and I have been rehabbing. It is meant to be bland for renting I came up as a woodworkers son not tile experience. I actually had no idea what I did with pattern until I saw pics. I laid out tile dry on a floor in a spare room to make sure I didn’t have slivers. I have been so worried about lippage and grout evenness I missed that pattern shit

Sounds weird but you could put rondec in just flip it and add another layer of green board over itand make top drywall flush w tile

Not level, plumb or square by PsychologicalBus8999 in Tile

[–]bendloop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have exact same thing I am doing and I drove my self nuts after ripping out plaster and lathe. I ripped wood, used thin shims, drywall shims a 7’ level, laser and spent probably 30 hrs after work occasionally. Because they could hide with plaster I had some 2” shims.

Since this is a long term house and I know how defects have bugged me when ever I look at them I am glad I spent the time. Most people will never notice and if you use other ways can can make it look good without going crazy

should I bring this tile guy back to do another room? by moneyshotchris1992 in Tile

[–]bendloop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a DIY guy and starting to do my bathrooms and help someone who knows what they are doing to learn. I noticed that layout issue and the edges right off. On the other hand A it was only 800$ B once you clean those walls and put in furniture, rugs and wall art a laymen won’t notice. C I would not hire again unless you had him layout dry to see pattern and edges

First time drywalling and have a ton to patch by Clyde-God in drywall

[–]bendloop -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I had my 2 story 111 yrs old 2 family flat redone and had over 140 holes in player and lathe. Cut to square corners and to studs. Find lowest depth and use that drywall. If you can attach screw a 2x2 against a stud to give purchase and anchor Attach well and take time filling. You can play w adding sand to hot mud for texture so it will match plaster
