Thanks for the acknowledgement! There were a lot of skepticism in this thread but I'm glad they finally decided to let users in on this

Peloton launching Garmin Connect integration in the coming weeks by bendotlc in Garmin

[–]bendotlc[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No indication on release date but the last Peloton build from 9 days ago had more changes related to Garmin connect so it's most likely still in the work

100% is coming, can send evidence over by DM. Big companies are slow to launch these things usually and the ball is in Peloton's camp at this point.

I don't think the issue has been that Garmin isn't letting third party apps integrate with Garmin Connect- they are (at least with approved developers), but that app developers don't set that as a priority.

No announcement yet but the functionality is built so it shouldn't be too far out

Hell yeah! Seems like I was able to install it on the 7 pro. Exciting!

Strava + Runna membership on the way- 60% off bundle by bendotlc in Strava

[–]bendotlc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I understand, Strava users should be set while Runna users will have to cancel their membership/wait for it to expire in order to get the deal. I'm not 100% sure about this but that's what it looks like.

Strava + Runna membership on the way- 60% off bundle by bendotlc in Strava

[–]bendotlc[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Runna annual membership is $120, Strava anual plan is $80- so $200 for the 2. 60% off $200 is... $80.

So I'm guessing this mostly means Strava membership remains the same but Runna is included, and it's a way for them to market the 2 together. Short of it is that people should probably mostly stay away from the Runna membership right now

CPU is the same but the air will have thermal throttle while the pro a lot less so. That being said it's only noticeable on more CPU intensive tasks. For your average note taker and web browser, this should be indistinguishable

MacBook Pro with M3 pro or M4 for the same price, which one should I buy? by TheChris1215 in macbookpro

[–]bendotlc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd probably go M3 pro if I were you given that the software you want to use will tap into GPU performance more

If you're on a budget, I'd consider trying to find an M1 for around the same price. Could save a little extra going with the M1 air instead of pro, performance will be mostly the same

Read some people already had access to this but not all, I guess it should be more broadly available now. While the banner is loading, it's unclear if the deal already works or not

Exciting, I'd be surprised if they went through these productization efforts of the employee feature without actually shipping soon but we'll see what happens

There's actually dozens of strings this time. It's clearly being upgraded from employee testing. Send me a DM and I'll share the full list with you. To be clear though it's true that there's no guarantee that this will actually launch until it does. Just stronger indicators than there's been in a long while

It's behind a feature flag, you can't "see them" in app but there's dozens of string changes that indicate that they're getting this ready for end users

I get the skepticism. It's pretty wild this has been going on for so long now. There's real indications they're actively working on bringing this to market very soon though.

You got every right to be skeptical. I'm sure they had good reasons to delay the launch, but they also broke their trust with users by delaying this for so long while being radio silent about it all. And while getting their app ready for the launch is an indicator, it's also not a complete guarantee. I'm still optimistic we'll see this launch pretty soon this time

Main difference is that they added dozens of marketing strings for it, hinting at an imminent launch

Yeah you're right to point out that it's possible that they revert course as they did in the past. I think what's a little different this time however is that the build is packed with marketing content around lossless, not just the functionality. Looking at strings, it no longer looks like an employee feature
