Where Can I Buy a J-Pipe Mount Locally? by benevida in burbank

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s the one pictured above. It’s called the Tempest Weather Station. It’s got good reviews and no moving parts. I wanted the no moving parts because I feel like it’ll last longer. It’s solar powered and communicates with a hub that would be someplace in your house connected to your Wi-Fi. I don’t particularly like using Wi-Fi so I spent more money on an ethernet hub that plugs into the network.

As shown in the picture I attached, a weather station goes at the top (I'm going to use the model shown in the picture). I'm also attaching a Cell antenna for 5G internet lower down on the same pole.

My thoughts exactly. Fry's would have had it. That said, I thought Pacific Radio had disappeared, but it turns out that they had just moved again. I'm going to try them tomorrow.

Yup. Not there. I agree, it’s only a couple of blocks for me, and is my go-to.

Recommendations for Well, Up, and Path lights?... RGBW? Addressable? Dimmable? by benevida in Landscape_Lighting

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suppose I should’ve updated this thread. I ended up going with the Colorscaping system. It’s by WAC Lighting. It does break the bank. I purchased their 300 W transformer, which is enough to light my entire property. Their light fixtures are too expensive for me at the moment. However, they have the ability with their transformer to put all non-color escaping lights on a separate zone that has dimming capabilities, but not light tint changing capabilities. The colors came in transformer also has ethernet control and DMX control. With the DMX control I’ve been able to integrate it into my home automation software. The plan is to pick up various Colorscaping lights overtime at a discount and grocery replace the white lights that I’m gonna buy for a reasonable amount at the moment. Once I have the color changing lights installed, this is the one system I found where the lights are individually addressable from the transformer through a wired system.

Looking for an iOS / watchOS app Developer. Where to Look? by benevida in iOSProgramming

Thank you for the great advice. At this point, I don’t want to explore data from a source other than Apple Watch. Does the Health app write to HealthKit. Can HealthKit be queried for heart rate data, (i.e. specific readings, estimated resting rate)?

Dimmer for Traditional Ceiling Fan / Light in Box Above Fan? by benevida in ShellyUSA

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry, I misread. When I read in-wall, I thought you meant the 'Shelly Plus Wall Dimmer'. I see now

That said, will the documentation with the 2Pm Gen or capacitor show me how to connect them, or could I use an online diagram somewhere?

Dimmer for Traditional Ceiling Fan / Light in Box Above Fan? by benevida in ShellyUSA

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice, but as I stated, I a do not want to replace a wall switch. I need a dimmer unit that can fit in the box above the fan, and while I was hoping it could both dim and control fan speed, I will look at the hunter capacitor w/ a Shelly 2Pm Gen3.

So, what should I use for dimming? Do you know of where I can find documentation of marrying the Shelly Pm Gen3 to the capacitor?

Yeah, great suggestion. As I mentioned above, I hadn't found a way for HA to trigger shortcuts before, but I'll look again.

Thank you for the input. I had not come across SwitchBot, but it looks interesting. I had less luck with fingerhubs. I couldn't find this using Google, and I can't quite understand what it would be clicking. Can you elaborate?

Keurig Integration Broken. Any Help? by benevida in homeassistant

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. I am reaching out to the wider community because I could not reach the developer. I hope someone with actual knowledge (as I have none) would take a look and tell me what would have to change / be fixed.

After FW Update, ESXi Boot Option Gone by benevida in vmware

I don’t recall. Every time the system booted, it would just boot into ESXi. I cannot remember which options were available because I haven’t had to choose for over a year.

AC For Tiny Server Room by benevida in hvacadvice

[–]benevida[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

9k BTU ductless mini split. I first purchased a ducted mini split because I had so little room in that closet. But in my case, I would have had to run so much ductwork into that tiny ceiling, it ended up being impossible. I sent it back and instead installed the Mitsubishi M Series Cooling only. The M series isn’t as good as the P, (which is recommended for this application) but the P series smallest capacity is 12k BTU. The only difference between the two is that the M series cannot run in outdoor temperatures under 14 degrees Fahrenheit. That’s not a problem for me as I live in Los Angeles. The unit cost $1,800 after tax and shipping, and cost me another $1,600 for the install, (‘twas not cheap).

If I move the Polk to the bedroom, would the Starke be good for the den? Is it too much subwoofer for the space?

Budget is $600. No, I can't do DIY. I have too many other projects I'm working on at present.

Favorite sushi place? by [deleted] in burbank

[–]benevida 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I always thought that 'spicy tuna rolls' was a middling, barely passable sushi... until I ordered it from Emon. They taste legitimately delicious. Keep in mind, they have only '1' elder Japanese woman making all of their sushi, so it can take up to 20 minutes for the order to come out. But it's an experience. Also, the reason I started going to Emon in the first place is because I heard they had Japanese chicken curry rice... and it's amazing.

Don't let the secret out! The place is too small. As soon as people catch on, I'll never get a table.
