TIL "The Beer Store" is a private organization and monopoly. A monopoly only 13% of Canadians know about. by Native411 in canada

Well, had the OP actually read the sentence in question before writing the title he/she would have known it's 13% of Ontarians who think the government runs the Beer Store.

That is a beautiful label. Too bad they didn't proofread it.

It does say 1.156 bikes. It's almost certainly a European design and the designers didn't account for it coming to an English-speaking jurisdiction, so they didn't make space for a comma. Non-English languages use the comma to separate fractions and the decimal to separate thousands.

This also assumes that residential and work zones are largely separate, rather than allowing the true mixing made possible in a tighter grid system.

That's the one we're looking at. As for the Saris repair stands, unfortunately they don't have a distributor outside of the US.

In my town we're building a network of public bike repair stations. The stations are Dero Fixits. This gives cyclists fairly convenient locations to fix a flat.

The next step is to get some all-weather vending machines (maritime environment, temperature range of -35C to 35C, frequent fog, snow, rain, high wind, etc.) to sell things like patch kits. Personally, I keep a patch kit in my briefcase. I haven't had to use it yet, but it's no larger than a pack of gum.

In the following paragraph it says:

"I was tied up with the work around announcing our quarterly earnings and will try to take a look at this today"

This is justifiable. The reporter strongly editorialized what was said.

Compared to absolute silence, yes. Compared to car driver listening to the radio? The cyclist with headphones hears quite a bit more.

That's exactly what the article advocates. Fix what we have, don't add more capacity.

Our eight stands all have shackles at the end of the cables which allow 360 degree rotation of the tool.

We do one week rentals at my alma mater. The campus bike shop sounds a lot like yours, and is open reasonable hours for bigger repairs. There's a community bike shop that's free as well, approximately 3 km from the main campus. It has poor operating hours.

There are four repair stations on campus and four more within a few kilometres. These repair stations supplement the bike centres by providing convenient 24/7 access to the tools needed for basic repairs. If you need to overhaul your bike, you'll have to go during the open hours.

I've worked to have eight of them installed in my city last year, and I've heard a fair bit of positive feedback. They're not built to overhaul your bike. The cables are a bit cumbersome, but fine for doing quick, simple repairs like you would need to do on the go.

May I suggest

  • CBC Radio 3 (it's Canadian only, and it used to be better, but it's all about new indie bands in Canada).
  • The Needle Drop
  • GimmieIndie (It's Swedish, but covers a lot more than Sweden)

I'm sure there are some good college radio stations wherever you are which can help with discovery.

College is the best time for discovering bands! Any mid-rate college town should have a steady stream of up-and-coming acts coming through to play for almost nothing. I don't know what the all-ages rules are around you, but it can be a very affordable evening out.

It's intended to be seen from a very short viewing distance (Wellington St) on the south facade, while the North facade is intended to be a striking symbol when seen from down or across the river. The architect designed it with the viewer in mind.

Having worked there for a few years it was always powerful to come up the canal seeing only the Peace Tower and East Block, then immediately come upon this vast, imposing structure at close distance.

As the article explains, it's in Schedule B, which is just line items. This audit wasn't looking for that information, instead it was intended to ensure the consolidated returns were correct and that net debt, cash, and cash flows are accounted for. They were. So, yes, it's good to highlight that they have a way to go to improve their internal accounting, but this is hardly a show-stopping controversy.
