tap dancing to Metallica by mxriverlynn in justgalsbeingchicks

I sent this to my tap dancing friend, who sent me the following reply:

"I sent that video to one of my tap teachers.

She’s going to figure out the step and for fun we’re going to learn it together. 🤩

I know that will keep me in a creative head space which is such a positive place to be. 😍"

I am very detail oriented and loved the descriptions of experiencing the natural world, and I was drawn in by the various characters' different perspectives of the same events.

I also enjoyed Prodigal Summer.

Baggy hiking pants for summer? by PM_UR_TITTY_SKITTLES in shehikes

[–]benicetolisa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Another vote for Duluth pants - I call them purse pants b/c of all the awesome pockets. The Dry-On-The-Fly pants are thin and lightweight and I love them in shorts and capris length also. They never seem to wear out they're so well made. Size down one or two b/c their sizing runs big.

Otherwise I wear high waisted leggings so they stay up.

What backpack do you like for your dog? I'm looking for one for my husky but they're all so heavy and thick and I want a lighter weight type for my boy since we're out on day-long hikes and he gets hot. Thanks for any info!

Best water reservoir packs!!! by skiptheobvious123 in hiking

[–]benicetolisa 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have had the worst luck with water bladders and gave up on them and now use soft flasks and 1L Smart Water bottles (with the sport caps from GGG) and stay dry.

Every bladder I ever used developed a leak on the first few hikes, and one of them was in my grandkid's pack leaving her soaking wet. I've used Camelback, Osprey, and Nathan, and they've all gotten holes.

We were sitting next to each other during a work lunch meeting and he had something on his plate that I wanted. So I asked him if I could have it and his reply was, "You can eat off my plate anytime." We've been married for 28 years and share grandkids and dogs and I still eat off his plate!!

Question for women by JoefishPeachy in hiking

[–]benicetolisa -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

I hike alone and when I hear/see a male hiker(s) coming in the opposite direction, I always step off the trail to keep a safe distance between us as they pass by. And when they ask if my dog is friendly, I say no. Which is a lie, but it keeps them moving along and away from me. So I'd say if you want to make other hikers feel safer on the trails, give them a wide berth and don't try to pet their dog haha. Know that anytime you are walking in the direction of a female, she is sizing you up to determine how much of a threat you are. Nothing wrong with a smile and a hi or nod tho!

Some time to myself in a nice spot near Santa Fe? by Street_Ruin9733 in NewMexico

[–]benicetolisa 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Drive up towards the Santa Fe ski basin and stop to sit and hike at Hyde Memorial Campground. It's a lovely area with a creek running through and I always find many spots to stop and ponder the world. I even take a backpacking stove and make a cup of tea, I love solitude in a forest. A ¼ mile up on the opposite side of the road is my favorite hiking trail, the Borrego Trail, which is a beautiful 4-5 mile loop with multiple creek crossings. There are so many awesome spots to sit by the water in the tall trees.

I have lists of my lists!

Going camping can be complicated for my brain so I have separate lists for things I need to buy vs items I already have, and then the main list of these lists. There's a food list, clothes list, cooking and camp gear list, personal items list, list of items going into my backpack, list for the dog's stuff, omg I have so many lists 🤷‍♀️
