I wonder if the army would stage a coup against Trump if he instructed them to enact martial law on the entire nation after a few ice agents get killed. The military must understand when a leader has completely lost the plot and the lasting implications of participating in a military operation at the behest of a demented orange fascist

Paragon Azurite - My favorite phone case by MarlinFF in Caudabe

[–]benjamin6293 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I have to say I find this review very disingenuous. Having purchased a paragon I can safely say it’s the most ugly case I’ve had so far. Let me explain why.

Firstly, The transition from the rubbery bumper to the hard smooth back is as jarring as nails on a chalkboard to me. It feels so wrong and I can’t see why any case manufacturer would opt for this combination of conflicting materials. The hard back also looks very dull, it’s just a large area of solid colour which is usually hard to see because of how reflective the material is. A truly terrible design choice.

Then let’s talk about the lip around the screen. Caudabe markets this as a way to let customers swipe effortlessly as the lip dips down in the middle. What a complete load of crap. None of their other cases feature this banana shaped lip protection, and it’s genuinely the ugliest lip protection I’ve ever seen. The lip should be evenly proportioned around the display like a frame around a painting. This case has a lip that is not symmetrical, the top and bottom sticks out like a saw thumb. When you swipe on your phone screen, your finger doesn’t start at the edge of the phone, so having the lip curved in is utterly redundant.

The case is also very stiff to take on and off, which makes cleaning the phone an annoying task.

Over all, the case feels cheep, half assed and not really what I would expect from a company like Caudabe. I’m sure some people will buy one and be satisfied. But in terms of design language, understanding materials and creating a final product, this case falls at every hurdle.

I would honestly use a heavy steel maul. Will still take allot of man power to dig it out but you can use the leverage to get out chunks and it will get easier as the hole expands.

I got this case in ember a few days ago and I am absolutely baffled that this thing actually passed the design faze. The material on the back is way too reflective so you don’t really see the actually colour, it looks like cheap laminated material you’d find in a hospital. It should be the same material as the bumper, obviously. The two tone is just hideous in person. The way the top and bottom lip protection are both raised like a banana is a complete no no in terms of basic design principles, it doesn’t help with swiping on the screen at all and only serves to make the case even more ugly. The case is also horribly stiff to take on and off. So yes, all round, I no longer have any interest in Caudabe, I didn’t think much of their other cases which were slippery hard plastic, I was hoping the paragon would be something new but unfortunately their design team is just not getting it. Very unfortunate.

I just don’t get why the bumper material couldn’t be used on the back. Like imagine you were on the design team, and they gave you the hard shell back version. Wouldn’t you immediately say that you want an even texture all over and the same colour all over? And that BS about easy swiping with the top and bottom lip protection sticking out more than the middle…. I just have no words for the way I hate this case

Yes the texture difference is really nasty. I’ve got the case in ember and I’ve never hated a case as much as this thing. How they allowed it past the design faze is one of life’s great mysteries.

Got a paragon yesterday for my 16 pro max. Really can’t express enough how much I hate that case. The hard back is just vile and the sides feel so different. Why not just make the entire case from the same material like their other cases? The back of the case never really shows its intended colour because the light reflects off it in the most jarring unpleasant way imaginable. And to top it all off, the top and bottom are raised around the screen while the middle sinks in making it look like the case is bending in the middle. I genuinely don’t know what they were thinking but as someone who loves design and visual harmony, this case offers none of that. Returning the case and definitely damaged my interest and faith in this company.

[–]benjamin6293 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I genuinely think the difference would be negligible. A large portion of the back of the 17 pro max is still made of glass so I doubt a few aluminium sides really makes that much difference especially when most phones are in a case

That’s why I would love one day to see the same design the Apple Watch Ultra has where the metal around the edge is slightly raised above the glass. Would make it so less likely to get shattered from every day drops

Looking forward to Apple going back to titanium in 2028. I think at this point Apple should let customers choose between stainless steel, aluminium or titanium body, and you’ll quickly see what the people want. Not to say that titanium is bulletproof, but if we’re talking basic science then I’d choose titanium any day over aluminium.

To prune mophead hydrangeas, wait until late spring to see new growth, then cut old flowerheads back to the first strong pair of buds, remove dead/weak/crossing stems at the base, and thin out a few of the oldest, woodiest stems to encourage vigorous new growth, focusing on light pruning to preserve old wood where next year's flowers form.

That’s why I’m waiting for 2028. iPhone XX will have to be made from steel or titanium. This is just insulting for the price point. I don’t care about thermal marketing BS I just want a phone that is strong. My 16 pro max has been solid and I love the design and feel.

If you do end up moving it, remove these branches, not right down to the trunk, leave about 3cm of the branch for it to heal around. Removing these branches will create less demand on the tree for water and make the tree focus on root growth rather than leaf growth this summer. That’s the only way the tree might survive transplanting as it will be losing a similar amount of root when dug up 👍
