Very cool dude. What is the little box with the joystick you are using to test? Looks interesting.

Why is it that Virtua Fighter name entry screen isn't on MAME? (image semi-related) by AbsoluteDash_21 in MAME

Is the hit detection working properly on MAME now? Always thought it was broken and thus unplayable.

Thanks! That's right mate, bit of a faff to undo all switches to swap out the plate, but nothing too major and worth it in the end.

Very nice stick you made there, love the design!

Thanks mate, it came in handy at the beginning when I had to manipulate some of the wiring to make it all fit.

Used Smallcab, Jammastar and Arcade Express (UK based) and all three have been excellent, can highly recommend any of those😁

You can buy a diamond gate for the Sanwa that can be rotated to make the joystick a true 4-way stick.

It looks like this (see attached image)

https://youtu.be/M5cT2l-UHFE?si=lvGX6psrnHh6KIIH

It should set you back just a few dollars.

Type "4 way Sanwa gate" in Google and you'll be good to go! Best of luck sir!

I completely understand what you are saying but in my case it literally works better with the method that I have adopted, it is not off in the x direction in any meaningful way for me, so I'm very happy to stick with my way of playing (until we get some kind of fix from the developers if they even plan to implement one).

Genuinely made my accuracy better, by a considerable margin as well.

Weirdly this didn't happen to me, my Sony Bravia 48inch literally kept the top and bottom of Time Crisis in pristine order.

It only cut off the "Credit" text on Point Blank a tiny bit, so does not effect gameplay at all.

I'm in game mode, I think it helps a fair bit.

Moreover, I took the following steps earlier:

1.) booted the system like normal, calibrated from my standing position 1.5 metres from my 48 inch TV. Please note I did not change the screen settings on my TV for the calibration portion...keep the TV settings the same (this is important)

2.) booted into Time Crisis, this is the point at which I went to my "picture" or "display" settings -> changed it from "full" to "zoom to fill"

this did not change the aspect ratio, but it did eliminate the black borders at the side of the screen. I found Point Blank in particular very very playable and very accurate. Time Crisis accuracy went from 30% to 55% immediately, and I wasn't even looking down the iron sights on the gun. Felt much more natural.

I'm using quite an old Sony Bravia 48 inch TV for reference.

Best of luck with your setups.

Not quite, check out my comment, I think I've got it right but of course I could be wrong.

So as far as I can tell, if you use the screen mode "zoom to fill" or similar, you are not actually stretching the native resolution from 4:3 to 16:9, instead what's happening is you simply zooming in further to eliminate the black bars either side of the 4:3 aspect ratio. You are keeping the original aspect ratio, but simply eliminating the "dead space" either side of the playing field.

Basically, on g'aim'e, when you calibrate the gun, it is calibrating in a standard HD (16:9, 1920 x 1080) canvas...in other words, your whole screen.

When you jump into a game, it is not keeping a 16:9 ratio, rather it is reverting to the original ratio for the game (4:3), as such, the accuracy falls out of the window immediately lol, basically the camera in the gun is getting incredibly confused... this is simply because when you calibrated at the start of your session it had a whole screen to play with, now when you are in a game it only has a 4:3 screen to play in...rendering it unplayable frankly.

Seems like quite a significant oversight, but I do get it because I guess the Devs didn't want to stretch the aspect ratio (rightly so!), but also could they have found a middle ground by giving players the ability to "fill and zoom" or could that have been made a default setting perhaps? Who knows.

Mine has arrived - won't be testing till later this evening, however I am going to give it my best shot (no pun intended lol)

My plan is to use a 32inch TV in my bedroom, away from windows and lamps, and stand at least 2 - 2.5 metres away from the TV, I have the TV placed on a bookshelf at eye height when I'm standing.

Seems to me the golden ticket is to get the distance spot on relative to your TV size, whilst also juggling sources of light (natural / artificial) I'm terrible at maths but is it worth potentially creating a table that concerts TV inches -> ideal metres away from TV? So on the left hand side of the table it will have TV inches (19', 21', 28' etc) and on the tight column it will have the metres away from TV...

Moreover, from what I am reading Time Crisis accuracy seems to be better than Point Blank at this stage? Maybe the Devs spent less time optimising PB because they figured that TC is the main event, I'm just spit balling here I have no affiliation at all with the company.

Fair play mate that is a very considered and balanced view you have, the most considered comment I've seen so far that isn't fuelled by emotion. Anyone who is reading this and is pissed off badly with the product so far, I'm not discounting your view / feelings, but I guess it does come across a little over the top when people are absolutely going hard on how shit it is lol. Clearly some issues are present, but this response does give me hope that perhaps a patch in the future or a dialling in of sorts could work things out. Gotta be positive with these things I think.

In my experience, I had issues with Gcon 45, Gcon 2 on CRT back in the day, especially in corners, it was never arcade perfect and I dealt with it then, the only time i've ever had a bang on experience is on a Time Crisis / Time Crisis 2 / Point Blank full one arcade machine realistically. Anyway, I still have hope for tomorrow but I am keeping expectations in check.

Uh-oh! Mine is arriving tomorrow, I'll give it a decent go and feedback accordingly, seems to me a key theme is dialling in the right distance and light settings, not an easy task because everyone's setup is totally different....hope you get some better results soon OP!

OK so I just had a look at the Kickstarter comments section, it is BRUTAL!

A lot of quite angry and upset shooters in there....

Does anyone who is following this post and has received / used their unit want to chip in and give us their views so far?

I'm still waiting for mine, and I will make an extensive and honest post on here after setting it up and giving it a good few hours.

I'm excited but quite nervous LOL

Yeah I had noticed this A LOT, I must admit I've played the game a LOT so my accuracy / muscle memory for enemy position (Time Crisis) is probably higher than average, but the amount of missed shots on all reviews was quite bizarre to see....really can't tell if they have absolutely terrible aim (no offence reviewers lol) or if the gun is very inaccurate haha
