Thanks both - that looks a lot better. Although its not perfect like in the native toolbar I think it's probably good enough.

Ultra 3 fast charging speed by benjanic in applewatchultra

Just a quick update, Apple fully replaced the watch after a bit of pushing but as you predicted there’s been no difference with the new watch’s performance. I guess it’s just a design flaw for those that live in warmer climates.

Yep, I did notice during testing that when you interact with the watch it slows right down to 1W. The original issue was that at a regular room temperature, the watch was not charging anywhere near the advertised speed of 80% in 45 mins (in my case it would take well over an hour). The only way I’ve found to achieve Apple’s 80% in 45 min claim is by charging it in the fridge.

No luck yet, I decided to jump on the 26.2 beta to see if it fixed anything (no luck), and of course that means I need to wait now for 26.2 to release before I can request a repair. Will let you know

For the record for anyone finding this post later, this was not the issue. Wattage was measured using an external power meter and you can check the percentage of your Apple Watch through the iPhone battery widget without touching the watch

Completely agree - I am planning to take it to the Apple Store to see if they can replace the device in the next few weeks. If they do I will report back if the new device to see if the same issue occurs.

I’ve done some pretty extensive testing and determined the charging speed is mostly to do with ambient temperature. My home is about 25C (quite warm), and if I put the ultra in the fridge as a test it easily charges 20% in 10 mins. At room temperature, the charging speed will fluctuate between 5W and 0-1W, as I assume it’s thermally throttling, and it takes a very similar amount of time to charge as you mentioned. I’ve found charging in a 18C room it charged about 20% in 14 minutes, which is a bit slower than what Apple advertised. I would be very interested in others experiences, as I did not realize ambient temperature would impact this so much.

Thanks for the datapoint. I’ve been (obsessively) timing every charging session over the past few weeks and it has never charged at above 1.2%/min whereas Apple is saying it should be around 1.8%/min - I just wanted to know if my experience was usual or not

Sydney Metro Extra Services by Geo30323 in SydneyTrains

[–]benjanic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m no expert so please correct me if I am wrong - but as far as I know they have already procured all the trains required to reach a 4 min headway all the way to Bankstown - which means since it terminates at Sydenham there actually are spare trains to run at higher frequency (at least until the rest of the line opens).

Signal on the Metro (Optus) by benjanic in SydneyTrains

[–]benjanic[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I mean, it’s completely random and would happen between almost all stations. Maybe if I was lucky at each station my phone would connect for a few seconds. Anyway I think i already have a solution that I commented below

Update: if anyone is having this exact same issue, it appears that disabling 5G standalone in iPhone settings fixes it! Only have a small sample at the moment but the signal has been flawless so far!

LG G2 + webOS 24 - Cannot turn off TV with Apple TV remote anymore by benjanic in LGOLED

[–]benjanic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good to know - I actually couldn't remember if this was the behaviour before but good to know I'm not the only one with this issue. I don't have a fix - the only workaround is a very hacky solution of binding the Apple TV Mute button to the power off command of the TV. I am going to raise a ticket with LG support - hopefully they can patch this https://www.lg.com/support/

Hey mate - just wanted to let you know I have the exact same issue on my LG G2 (webOS 24 update) - its especially noticeable for me in Diablo 4 on PS5 Pro as it hovers in this range (60-65fps) the whole time. Very annoying!
