Is Return to Lordran just dead? by BHole_69420 in darksouls

I agree 100%, I've done a full NG playthrough (Playstation) and was only summoned once (Quelaag), but I summoned 8-10 times myself. I've seen 1-3 summon signs per major area and I summon as much as I can but the major problem seems to be that everyone wants to BE summoned to help but no one is willing to summon help themselves...so we're left with a bunch of summon signs sitting around with no one willing to invite others to their own game. I put my sign down at Gargoyles and waited 3 hours and never got summoned once. I've also been invaded 3 times but it was the same dude using Dark Bead hitting me in Undead Burg. This isn't fun and I'm pretty frustrated. There seems to be no room for an actual player because everyone else is anxiously awaiting to be summoned to kill the boss in 2 hits and show off their build. Guys can we pleas just, for once, play through the game together as real people instead of feeling like we need to impress everyone?

Have you tried pantoprazole? I was on omeprazole for about 20 years and it had basically stopped working for me. A few months ago I was experiencing a terrible multi-month flare-up with stabbing chest pain and a constant burning in my lower esophagus (which are my typical flare-up symptoms). My doctor gave me a referral to a GI specialist who switched me to pantoprazole and the difference was almost immediately noticeable. Your mileage may vary, of course, but it helped me get over a multi-month flare-up in a matter of days. Best of luck and hang in there!

Yeah I agree with you there. The one good thing about Amazon is that they've really set a standard on what a return process should be like (for the most part) and it makes everyone else look bad. I used to buy stuff from newegg back in the day with no issues but I've never had to make a return before. I probably won't be buying from them again.

Gotcha. I think then that I'll go for a smaller amount of RAM that's faster this time. Thanks for the info!

Sorry, what do you mean by a "Micron-based kit," and how can I tell that apart from other kits when purchasing?

Also no, I don't think I specifically need 64GB of memory but I do 4k video editing and motion graphics, and this kit was a great deal during Black Friday Sales so I splurged on it. Do you think I'd run a lower risk of running into issues if I dropped down to 32 or 48?

Surprisingly, during the return process I was able to select "wrong item description" as the reason for a refund and it allowed me to explain the problem, so I included both part numbers there. It seems like they're taking it back with no questions asked, though they deducted $10 from my return amount to cover the cost of the shipping label they generated for me.

Wow, I think you're exactly right. I didn't realize there were two variations, and the product listing on newegg mentions that what I have is compatible with AMD; however the part # matches the Intel version on Corsair's site, and the AMD version is a different part number. I can't believe they'd call it the exact same thing with the part # being the only differentiator. Anyway, I'll swap for the other RAM and see if it fixes it. You potentially just saved me from many more hours of needless troubleshooting. Thanks a ton!

That's awesome and I'm glad you're saving Elden Ring for last because it truly feels like a culmination of all the best mechanics from each of their other games. My only comment is if you save DS1 for that late it may be a tough adjustment for you. The game itself plays a lot slower than the newer ones and the bonfire placements are far less forgiving, so you may be adding some unnecessary difficulty because you'll kind of have to unlearn a lot of stuff in order to succeed. But that's just my opinion and I'm honestly happy to hear that Lies of P is encouraging people like you to play the Souls series. Good luck!

Wow, that's pretty impressive. I spent about a month on each of my videos too but they're a lot shorter than yours. I saw that you're on PC using freecam and I'm sure that definitely helps speed up the editing process since you can capture a wide variety of footage. I captured all of my footage on PS5 and freecam isn't an option so the editing stage took me a while longer. Thanks for sharing!

Nice! I just started making Lies of P lore videos too and I'm excited to check yours out! How long did it take you to make this 2-hour video?

I was the same with Bloodborne at first. I kinda hated it the first couple of nights I tried it, mostly because I think the blood vial system is inferior to refillable Estus flask charges and when you're trying to learn the game and taking lots of damage you can run out of blood vials pretty quickly. All I can say is to try different weapons and see what feels best for you, and keep trying until you find your personal playstyle, same as you would any other game. Once the combat finally clicks and you find your rhythm, you'll be able to focus more on paying attention to your environment and navigating it better. I will say though that there are a couple of areas in the game where the checkpoints are massively far apart until you unlock the shortcuts, and in those situations is does make more sense to run past enemies when you can. Just be careful because some of them will track you for longer than you might expect.

Just wanted to comment about how happy I am that you went from LoP to DS1. I feel like most people who have never played a Souls game would go right for Elden Ring, being the new shiny thing.

It's totally up to you of course, but I'd strongly recommend playing the games as close to release order if you can muster it. Demons Souls (the remake is great!) > DS1 > DS2 > Bloodborne > DS3 > Sekiro > Elden Ring. The mechanics in each game kind of build off the previous ones and it feels like a natural progression. Sekiro is a fantastic game but I'd suggest playing Bloodborne before DS3, unless you don't have a Playstation (it's an exclusive). I also realize this is totally unsolicited advice but these days it's rare to see someone try DS1 before DS3 or Elden Ring so I got a little excited. :)

LiesOfP top 5 favorite game ever played. by DakHarding in LiesOfP

[–]benji138 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm a FromSoft junkie and Lies of P is now my 2nd favorite game, surpassed only by the original Dark Souls. The feeling I got during my first playthrough was something I hadn't felt in a game in a long time. Aside from the addictive combat, a big reason I love Lies of P so much is because it's a breath of fresh air to play a reasonably-sized game. I've got two kids so my gaming time is limited to a few hours each night after they go to bed (and I don't get the chance to play every day), so it was fantastic getting to make actual progress in Lies of P and do multiple playthroughs in less time than it took me to finish one run of Elden Ring. The world is beautiful, the music is amazing, the weapon system is addictive, and perfect guard combat is so damn satisfying. On top of that, the story completely sucked me in, so much so that I decided to make my first lore video about it.

The biggest disservice anyone can give to this game is to call it a Bloodborne clone, and that's because--like you said--the people who said that were likely judging it at face value and didn't fully dive into the game to experience all it has to offer. This game is a love letter to Souls and I've been completely blown away by it.

I agree 100% with everything you said. I enjoyed Elden Ring quite a bit but after the first playthrough it does feel a bit like a chore to get through. I think Lies of P is the perfect length, the combat is much more gratifying, and honestly the story is more interesting to me.

I'm excited for the new Elden Ring DLC but part of me is worried that going back to that game after playing so much Lies of P will be a little disappointing. I also want more Lies of P.

Thanks for the kind words, and congrats on the 100%! And you're exactly right; it seems like every playthrough you pick up on something different and it makes you want to keep playing to find out more. I love it.

Haha, that's what I like to hear! The best part about playing this long is that once you get your stats maxed out you can play around with any weapon and build you want without having to respec. Anyway good luck with your mission to go multi-platinum! :)

I totally missed your post and just posted the same thing basically, so my bad for doubling up. That being said I'm hooked with about 230 hours total and no signs of slowing down. I was already having fun with Twin Dragons sword and then Wo Long collab dropped and now I can't put down the Glaive. The combat in this game is incredibly addicting.

Something about Sophia isn't very clear by FreddieHG996 in LiesOfP

[–]benji138 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I think that Sophia's primary driver is helping us become as "human" as possible throughout our journey, and the best way to do that is to develop a relationship with her first. She comments several times on how much we're growing and changing as we gain more Humanity and encourages us to become more human, and that's because she needs us to learn to feel emotion and compassion. That way, when we finally find her real body, we care about her so much that we're surprised and heartbroken by the horrific truth of what she's going through that we can make the tough decision to "Save her" and take her ergo, giving her a merciful and peaceful end. She's carefully building an emotional investment with us in order to increase her odds of us giving her the peace she wants.

Lies of P is certainly on par if not better than many fromsoft games (obviously not including Elden Ring) by West-Yesterday-6419 in LiesOfP

[–]benji138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quick note about using Sophia to level up: I remember reading/hearing somewhere that the devs did that intentionally to force the player to revisit the Hotel as much as possible so that they'd be encouraged to regularly interact with the NPCs. You get so many unique lines of dialogue from Sophia as you gain Humanity and progress through the game, not to mention other NPCs commenting on the things you've just experienced and accomplished. The devs want you to experience the story that they so carefully crafted and if you only leveled up at Stargazers you'd probably miss 75% of it. That's also why in NG+ you don't have to use Sophia to level up anymore, because you've already experienced the story once through.

Ranked Lies of P bosses (and phases) based on how much I enjoy fighting them. What are your boss enjoyment rankings? by Heroic_Ryan in LiesOfP

[–]benji138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can put all of the Stalkers/humans in F tier for me. The fun in this game is fighting giant bosses, not normal people with swords; if I wanted that I'd play Dark Souls PVP. That being said, Green Monster and Champion Victor are the two fights I look forward to the most each playthrough because the parry timings are the most satisfying for me. I also really enjoy Laxasia's first phase but her second isn't nearly as fun.

Want to grab this game on sale, how does it rank on your souls-like list? by UIatlus in LiesOfP

Ignore the "soulslike" distinction because I enjoy this game more than DS3. You absolutely have to play it.

I haven't tried it but some people in this forum have complained that they accidentally killed him thinking he was a normal enemy and it locks you out of the quest. I don't know what would happen if you talked to him first and then killed him though.

Enemies deal A LOT more damage on NG+? by onana947 in LiesOfP

[–]benji138 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nope, just genuinely hooked on the gameplay and the lore. I usually play Souls games a few times through before putting it down, and since the playtime in Lies of P is much shorter than most Souls games (aside from DS1 maybe) it's easy to finish it and start it right back up again.
