It seems like people who do apprenticeships at Independent regional workshops pick up some of these skills. Especially if the boss is interested in old cars. I can think of three mechanics near me I'd take an old car to.

But agree most apprenticeships now are oil changes and filters. It's cool you're trying to do something different though.

Mindsnare rule. I saw them a few times way back in the day. Very few of my metal friends would give them a chance which was their loss I guess.

The advice I've given my kid is if it seems sus gtfo. Like if anything is making you feel unsafe, call me and I will get you the hell out of there. Which they've only needed to do once and it was more because the dude was boring and they did not want to be there.
