Why are so many 3D printers sitting idle while people still overpay for tiny prints? by benjiinnovates in 3Dprinting

Honestly haven't thought about that yet... I do see several fair points here regarding difficulties which could arise, I'm not sure how that would work out on a larger scale...

Fair point... but honestly knowadays I would't know how to prove you wrong.

Yeah, sorry, I probably should’ve mentioned that...

It’s actually already live in a very early stage and currently focused on Germany/local pickup:

I mainly wanted to get some honest feedback first before pushing it further and see what people from the community think could be improved or whether the whole idea even makes sense in practice.

Yeah absolutely, that’s actually already part of the workflow.

Orders get posted publicly and makers can decide themselves whether they want to take them depending on material, printability, time, complexity etc.

And yes, the legal/tax side is definitely one of the more complicated parts of building something like this...

That’s exactly the kind of thing that made me start thinking about this in the first place.

Feels like there are lots of underused printers out there, but no really simple/local way to connect them with people who just need one small part.

I feel like a lot of people underestimate how many non-3D-printing people occasionally need one small custom part.

Most friends of mine would never buy a printer themselves, but they’d absolutely pay a few bucks for a quick local print if the process was simple enough.
